CH.766 The Sphere Field Tournament, part 6, Wilma vs. Myrphe, duel 3
And so, duel 3 between Wilma and Myrphe began. Since Wilma lost duel 2, she got to pick who goes first, and she let Myrphe go first.
Myrphe began by overlaying two Rainbow Mother Spiders in her hand. This allowed her to summon a random SF Number, and she got Number 39: Utopia.
Spoiler
[collapse]
By the way, I didn’t allow Utopia Double; Utopia Rising; Utopia Prime or Utopia the Lightning for the tournament. I just didn’t want them to be the go to way of solving problems. Especially Lightning.
Spoiler
[collapse]
But Ray, Ray V and Ray Victory are all allowed. But there is no SF version of og Ray. You need to run it in your extra deck if you want to use it. Ray V and Victory are both available in the SF Extra though. And the tournament Ray doesn’t have that stupid “You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect” restriction.

Myrphe then special summoned Rainbow Spider from her hand, and used its effect to send two Rainbow Baby Moths to her GY.

She then set 1 card and ended her turn.

Wilma began her turn and drew a card.
She didn’t have an optimal hand either, so she, like Myrphe, relied on the Sphere Field. She overlaid Express Train Trolley Olley and Ruffian Railcar in her hand, and the Sphere Field gave her a familiar spider. Number 70: Malevolent Sin. And since it was summoned using Trolley Olley, it gained 800 more attack.
Spoiler
1So a note from me. While Myrphe getting Utopia was not random, Wilma pulling Number 70 was. And I do like the fact that she is using Myrphe's monster against her.
[collapse]
Wilma used Malevolent Sin’s effect detaching Ruffian Railcar to banish Utopia until Myrphe’s next standby. She moved to her battle phase and attacked Rainbow Spider with Malevolent Sin, destroying it. And since Malevolent Sin attacked, it gained 3 ranks and 300 attack.
But since Rainbow Spider was destroyed, Myrphe got to special summon an Insect from her GY. She summoned back Rainbow Mother Spider. And that allowed her to summon the two Rainbow Baby Moths from her GY. In defense position, naturally.
Wilma then used a Quick-Play Spell called Fast Track. Since her monster destroyed a monster by battle, and there are still monsters on the field, Wilma could declare another attack with that monster.2No custom art/card for Fast Track, since I didn't quickly find a good art for it, and it is just a one time use spell.
She attacked the Rainbow Mother Spider and destroyed it. Which in turn made Malevolent Sin gain another 3 ranks and 300 more attack.
During her main phase 2, Wilma used the effect of Malevolent Sin. When Malevolent Sin is a rank other than its original rank, but still less than 13, you can use it to Xyz summon an Xyz monster with the same rank, ignoring usual materials and all of that. It also ignores the usual Sphere Field limit of not being able to SF Numbers to go into Xyz monsters from your regular main deck, but that is kind of needed in this case.
Wilma used the effect to summon out Skypalace Gangaridai. And since Trolley Olley, like plenty of other ‘bad’ cards, was buffed when I made it, Skypalace Gangaridai gained 800 more attack.
Spoiler
[collapse]
Wilma used Gangaridai’s effect, detaching Malevolent Sin to destroy 1 of the Rainbow Baby Moths. That moth got banished because of its own effect, and Myrphe took 1000 damage.
Wilma then set a card and ended her turn. And during her end phase, the effect of Ruffian Railcar activated and Wilma added Night Express Knight to her hand.

So the turn returned to Myrphe, and she drew a card. And during her standby phase, the Utopia banished by Malevolent Sin returned.
Now you might think it will die since it has no overlay units, but it was special summoned from the banished zone, not the Sphere Field, so it doesn’t.
She special summoned Rainbow Butterfly from her hand, which triggered its effect allowing Myrphe to search for a Rainbow Spider, which she then special summoned. And she milled 2 copies of Lonely Rainbow Butterfly with the spider.

[collapse]
She then tributed her Rainbow Baby Moth to raise the levels of her Rainbow Butterfly and Rainbow Spider to be 10. But since Rainbow Baby Moth had been summoned by its own effect, it was banished.
Myrphe then activated Rank-Up-Magic Numeron Force from her hand. She used it to rank her Utopia into SF Number C39: Utopia Ray V. She used Utopia Ray V’s effect to destroy Wilma’s Skypalace Gangaridai.
Spoiler

Wilma responded to this with Xyz Reflect, negating Utopia Ray V’s effect and destroying it before the Sphere Field could. Myrphe also took 800 damage.

Myrphe then Xyz summoned using her Spider and Butterfly, summoning out Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula. Which she instantly upgraded to Number 84: Pain Gainer.
Spoiler
[collapse]
She used Pain Gainer’s effect to destroy all monsters with 4200 or less defense. That included Wilma’s Skypalace Gangaridai, so it was destroyed.
And since Rainbow Butterfly was detached, Myrphe got to summon a Rainbow monster from the deck, in this case her third copy of Rainbow Spider. But she had already used its effect this turn, so it was just a monster with stats and an effect if it is destroyed.
Myrphe then summoned Number 77: The Seven Sins and attacked Wilma directly with her two monsters. Wilma couldn’t stop it so she took 5800 damage.

Myrphe ended her turn.

Wilma’s turn began and she drew a card.
And she began her plays in a familiar way. By normal summoning Night Express Knight and then special summoning Heavy Freight Train Derricrane and using the two to Xyz summon Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Flying Launcher. And since she summoned Flying Launcher, she got to add Barrage Blast to her hand.
Spoiler
[collapse]
She used the effect of Flying Launcher, detaching Derricrane to destroy Myrphe’s set card. But Myrphe activated it in response. It was a custom version of Rainbow Life.
Spoiler
[collapse]
You could use it like normal to turn all damage into healing, but it had two additional effects. First, when activated, it would turn all of your opponent’s monsters into face up attack and force all of them to attack that turn. And second, you can activate the card by detaching a material from an Xyz monster you control instead of discarding a card, and if you do, all of your opponent’s monsters must attack that Xyz monster. At least until it dies. And your opponent takes no damage from battles involving that monster. But their monsters can die.
That gave Wilma a bit of an issue, since she now had to attack Seven Sins. But at least Wilma was able to use Derricrane to destroy Rainbow Spider, even if Myrphe just replaced it with a Lonely Rainbow Butterfly.
She then upgraded Flying Launcher into Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe, probably to get enough attack on board to not lose her monster. She then played Rank-Up-Magic Barian’s Force to upgrade it into its CXyz variant.

You can detach 1 material from this card; it gains 2500 ATK/DEF.
If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
If this card has "Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe" as an Xyz Material, it gains these effects.
- During each Battle Phase, this card can attack up to the number of materials it has +1.
- This card cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects.
… I guess I should admit that the OG one Wilma designed was a bit more powerful. It nuked everything the opponent controlled when it attacked, and could still attack multiple times. But Janina and I nerfed that effect to the piercing damage effect.
It is just … I can’t give her a 7000 attack monster that nukes everything and then can attack again. And again. That would be just a bit too good. I mean, I made the Rainbow Life trap more powerful for a reason. There were too many OTKs during testing.
But anyway. Bruno was summoned with Barian’s Force, so it stole an Xyz material from Number 77 and now had 4.
Wilma attacked with her CXyz train because she had to. And she had 5 attacks to use.
The first one destroyed Myrphe’s Number 77, since she chose not to protect it. This increased her life points by 500. The next one destroyed Lonely Rainbow Butterfly and healed Myrphe for 2100. And the next three attacks hit her directly, but she just gained life points. 13,500 life points, bringing her up to 22,300.
Wilma then set 1 card, the Barrage Blast she searches earlier and ended her turn.

Myrphe’s turn began and she drew a card. And while she may have survived last turn, she wasn’t in a good position. Wilma surely has Barrage Blast set and while Myrphe has a ton of LP, Endgültig Bruno can do a ton of damage. Up to 28,000 if Wilma uses its effect to boost its attack.
But Myrphe, being a copy of me, also had stupid luck. Because she top decked another custom Rank-Up-Magic.
She activated Rank-Up-Magic From the Grave. She summoned back SF Number 39: Utopia, and ranked it up into SF Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory.

Do I need to tell you what happened next? Myrphe attacked Wilma’s Endgültig Bruno with C39, used its effect so Utopia Ray Victory would gain its attack and negate its effects, Bruno was destroyed and Wilma took 2800 damage, reducing her life points to 0.
Myrphe won the duel, and the match.

The next day we held the bronze match and the finals. Wilma easily won bronze, and Myrphe also 2-0 her opponent. So Myrphe will be dueling me. And I have to say, I’m excited.
When this tournament began, I never expected to duel my soul copy. Because I’d rather have lost intentionally than dueled against myself.
But Myrphe is no longer me, so this is fair game.
