CH.765 The Sphere Field Tournament, part 5, Wilma vs. Myrphe
“My turn.” Wilma began. “I’ll normal summon Night Express Knight. And since I summoned an Earth Machine, I can special summon Heavy Freight Train Derricrane from my hand.”

“Now I’ll activate the Spell Parallel Train Tracks. Since I control 2 Earth Machines with the same level, I can add Revolving Switchyard and an Earth Machine from my deck to my hand. The monster I’m adding is Ruffian Railcar.”
Spoiler
Parallel Train Tracks
Spell Card
If you control 2 EARTH Machine monsters with the same level; Add either 1 "Revolving Switchyard" and 1 EARTH Machine monster with a level different from the two you have on the field, or 2 EARTH Machine monsters with a levels different from each other and from the two you have on the field from your deck to your hand.
[collapse]
By the way, Revolving Switchyard is a Continuous Spell for the tournament, not a Field Spell. Since Numeron Sphere Field is already the Field Spell. I had to do the same for a few other Field Spells as well.
“Now I’ll activate Revolving Switchyard. And I’ll activate its second effect. I’ll discard Ruffian Railcar to add another copy of Heavy Freight Train Derricrane from my deck to my hand.
“I’ll then overlay my two level 10 monsters.
“When two mighty forces agree, a powerful defensive pact is formed. But don’t stand against it as it has the force to blow you away.
“Xyz summon! Appear, Rank 10, Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora!”
Spoiler
1I am not sorry for Super Dora’s chant.
[collapse]
Wilma summoned her large train into defense position, then set a card and ended her turn. During her end phase, Ruffian Railcar’s effect activated and Wilma added another Night Express Knight to her hand.

“My turn then.” Myrphe began. “I’ll start by normal summoning Rainbow Mother Spider. I’ll then tribute it to special summon a Rainbow Baby Spider from my deck.”
“I’ll then special summon Rainbow Spider from my hand. And since I did, I can send two Rainbow Baby Moths from my deck to my graveyard.”

From there, it seems like Myrphe wasn’t quite sure on what she wanted to do. There were things she could do, but her hand really wasn’t equipped to handle a Super Dora with Derricrane. So while she could bait out the Derricrane, she can’t actually deal with the Super Dora this turn.
Luckily her spiders were in defense position, so Myrphe just set a card and ended her turn. But during her end phase, Wilma acted. She detached Derricrane from Super Dora, using Dora’s effect to make itself immune for the turn. But the more important part was Derricrane’s effect, which Wilma used to destroy Myrphe’s set Xyz Tribalrivals.

And so we returned to Wilma’s turn. She drew for the turn and did the same normal Night Express Knight, special Derricrane play as last turn.
She then used the two to Xyz summon Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max. She used its effect, detaching Night Express Night and burning Myrphe for 2000. She then upgraded into Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Juggernaut Liebe.

She activated Train Connection, banishing Heavy Freight Train Derricrane and Night Express Knight and equipping Connection to Juggernaut Liebe. The card naturally doubled Juggernaut Liebe’s attack to 8000, and it also now deals piercing damage.

And with all that damage on the field, Wilma moved into her battle phase, attacking Rainbow Baby Spider with Juggernaut Liebe. And since the baby spider only has 400 defense, Myrphe took 7600 damage and lost the first duel of the match.

It didn’t take too long to have the set ready for duel 2 of the match. And this time, Myrphe was going first since she got to pick the turn order. Hopefully that doesn’t bite her, as Wilma can perform that OTK on the second turn just as easily as she can on the third.
Myrphe began her turn by special summoning Lonely Rainbow Butterfly. She then normal summoned Rainbow Baby Spider. She used Lonely Rainbow Butterfly’s effect to raise the level of both by 3, and then used Baby Spider’s effect to make it the same level as Lonely Rainbow Butterfly, which was now 10. She then used both to Xyz summon Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula.

Wilma began her turn by drawing a card. She activated Revolving Switchyard, discarded Express Train Trolley Olley and added Night Express Knight to her hand. She summoned the Knight and then special summoned Super Express Bullet Train from her hand.

That special summon triggered the effect of Number 35, so Wilma took 600 damage.
Wilma used her two level 10s to Xyz summon Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora, which caused her another 600 damage, and moved to her battle phase.

She attacked the defense position Number 35 with her monster, but Myrphe activated Wonder Xyz, allowing her to Xyz summon. She used her Number 35 as the material to summon Number 84: Pain Gainer in defense. And since the combined Ranks of all monsters on the field are 21, Pain Gainer had 4200 defense.
Spoiler

Myrphe followed that up by activating her other set card, Xyz Effect. Since she Xyz summoned, she got to target a monster Wilma controls and destroy it. She went after Wilma’s Super Dora, but Wilma used its effect to protect the train.

And since my version of Wonder Xyz forces the opponent to attack the monster summoned by it that turn, Wilma couldn’t attack over her opponent’s monsters and she moved to her main phase 2. She set two cards and ended her turn. And since Super Express Bullet Train went to the GY this turn, Wilma added Express Train Trolley Olley back to her hand.

Myrphe’s turn began and she drew a card. She began by using the effect of Pain Gainer. She detached Rainbow Baby Spider from it to destroy all monsters Wilma controls with less defense than Pain Gainer. And since Super Dora is weaker, Wilma had to do something to protect it. She activated her Xyz Block, detaching a material from Super Dora, to negate the activation of the effect and destroyed Number 84.
Spoiler

But since Myrphe detached Rainbow Baby Spider from an Xyz monster to activate that monster’s effect, even if the effect was negated and the monster destroyed, she gained 1000 LP.
She special summoned Rainbow Butterfly, which allowed her to add Rainbow Spider to her hand, and she also summoned it. And since she did, she sent a Rainbow Baby Moth and a Rainbow Mother Spider from her deck to her GY.
Spoiler

She then Xyz summoned using the two Rainbow insects, summoning out Number 70: Malevolent Sin. She used its effect to try and banish Wilma’s no material Super Dora, but Wilma used her other face down, Xyz Reflect.
Spoiler
[collapse]
That negated the effect of Number 70, destroyed it and Myrphe took 800 damage. But like earlier, Myrphe did detach Rainbow Butterfly from Number 70 so its effect activated. Myrphe special summoned Lonely Rainbow Butterfly from her deck. And since a Rainbow monster was special summoned, Myrphe could special summon the 2 Rainbow Baby Moths in her GY.
Myrphe used the effect of one of the Rainbow Baby Moths, tributing it and declaring 10. That made her remaining Baby Moth, Rainbow Spider and Lonely Rainbow Butterfly level 10. She used the spider and moth to Xyz summon Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula. Which she instantly used to go to Number 84: Pain Gainer. She used Pain Gainer’s effect again, detaching Baby Moth, to destroy Number 81 since Wilma finally couldn’t protect it.
Myrphe then summoned Number 77: Seven Sins using Pain Gainer as the material. She attacked directly with it and Lonely Rainbow Butterfly, and Wilma took 6400 damage. Myrphe then ended her turn.

Once per turn: Target Monster Zones on your opponent's side of the field up to the number of Xyz material this card has. If your opponent summons a Monster to one of those zones, they take damage equal to that monster's original attack. This card must be face up on the field to activate and resolve this effect.
If this card has "Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora" as an Xyz Material, it gains this effect.
- Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can detach 1 material from this card, all cards you currently control are unaffected by your opponent's cards and effects until the end of this turn.
“Since Hyper Dora was summoned using Barian’s Force, I can steal one Xyz material from your Seven Sins. So Number 84: Pain Gainer is now my material.
“I’ll then use Hyper Dora’s effect. 2 of your monster zones are now mined by Hyper Dora. Summon on them and you’ll take damage equal to your summoned monster’s attack.” Wilma said, as Hyper Dora’s cannon fired a shell that broke apart and rained mines down on two of Myrphe’s monster zones.
“I’ll end my turn.”

“The card I drew is Rank-Up-Magic Final Number.” Myrphe announced. “I’m revealing it so that I can use it.”
Spoiler
Rank-Up-Magic Final Number
Spell Card
You can reveal this card, in your hand, during your Standby Phase. If this card wasn't revealed during this turn's Standby Phase, it cannot be activated.
Special summon 1 random "SF Number" Monster, except "SF Number C" monster, from the Sphere Field Extra Deck. Then Xyz Summon 1 "SF Number C" monster with the same number in its name as the first monster, by using it as the Xyz Material. The summoned monster cannot be destroyed by card effects this turn. You can only activate 1 Rank-Up-Magic Final Number per turn.

Oh? Nice top deck luck by Myrphe. Let’s see what she gets with it. Because she needs something good or she will lose. On her next turn, Wilma can summon Juggernaut Liebe and inflict a lot of damage. And even if Myrphe changes her monsters to defense, Liebe will still destroy them since it can attack 3 times. Sure 1 of her monsters will survive thanks to the 2 overlay units 77 still has, but she can't really do anything. Wilma can protect her monsters with Hyper Dora, so Myrphe can’t use Seven Sins to kill either of them. Unless she gets a stronger monster.
“I’m activating Rank-Up-Magic Final Number.” Myrphe said. She then clasped her hands together, almost as if in prayer.
“Numeron Sphere Field. I ask you to respond to my call and bring forth the Number I require.” Myrphe began, and I panicked a bit. I needed to confirm that she can’t backdoor the Number she actually needs.
But it seemed random from my end, so I just let it roll. Besides, Wilma can afford to lose 1 duel of this match. If she wanted to, she could have won on her last turn by summoning her CXyz Liebe instead of C81.
“Appear. Sphere Field Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula!” Myrphe called out. And as she did, the Sphere Field responded and the large spider once again took to the field.
Wilma sent me a quick mental message confirming that the summon was indeed random, and I confirmed that it really was. Even if I almost didn’t believe it.
“Ravenous Tarantula. Rank up into your Chaos form!” Myrphe cried out.
“You came to the world hungry, wanting to consume everything. But now, your hunger has been satisfied and you are ready to pay for the sin of gluttony.
Weave the web that shall feed the world. Sphere Field Chaos Number 35: Temperate Tarantula!”

3 Level 11 monsters
Each time your opponent Summons a monster(s), gain 800 LP.
Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can special summon 1 Rank 12 Light-attribute "Number C" Monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring summoning conditions, using this card as Xyz material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Xyz Materials attached to this card also become Xyz Materials on the Summoned monster.)
If this card has "Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula" as an Xyz Material, it gains this effect.
- All monsters you control gain ATK and DEF equal to the difference between your LP and your opponent's.
“Temperate Tarantula’s effect. All monsters I control gain attack and defense equal to the difference in our life points. It is 5400 so my monsters gain 7800 attack.” Myrphe said, as the attack indicators of her monsters adjusted to 8800, 10,200 and 11,800.
“Now battle. Temperate Tarantula, attack Hyper Dora!” Myrphe declared her attack, and it went through, destroying Wilma’s train. “Lonely Rainbow Butterfly, finish her!”
