Chapter 90: Right here, Right now.
"Princess." Troy whispered into her hair, inhaling a lung full of her scent, his heart rate normalizing. "I’m so sorry, baby. I’m really sorry."
"It’s okay." She said, as he pulled away softly. "It happens."
"No, Princess. I really shouldn’t have done that. I should have handled it better. I’d gotten it so many years ago, but I acted like I just got it yesterday. That was fucked up." He apologized, his eyes sad and sunken, Bethany’s heart couldn’t help but ache.
He looked so underfed and spent.
"It’s okay, Troy. I swear. I was just shocked but that’s about it. I’m not angry with you or anything. I’m serious." She tried to pacify him, her hand on his chest.
She could feel Tristan and Theo’s heavy gazes on them. It didn’t make her uncomfortable but it made her feel a bit too self conscious.
"You don’t have to be angry with me before I apologize, Princess. I’m apologizing because I wronged you. I should have done it sooner-"
"And it’s gone, Troy. It’s passed. I’m okay. Completely fine. I’d love to hear the story one day, but for now it’s okay." She assured him, pecking his cheek, the warmth coursing through her amplifying.
"I’ve missed you." She couldn’t help but admit, looking into his eyes.
"I’ve missed you too." Troy said, beyond elated. She’d missed him. She wasn’t pissed at him, nor disappointed.
How he was going to be better for her he couldn’t say, but he had to figure it out fast because he couldn’t afford to cause her pain anymore.
