Chapter 79: He didn’t lie
By the time Kylian realized his dreadful mistake, his terrified tearful gaze could only see the tip of the bell tower building growing farther from him in the distance as he was falling on his head upside down.
Even in that speedy pace, he understood he might immediately crack his skull open the second he hit the ground. But there was no point in turning back anymore.
Holding his deliberate horrified expression, Kylian clenched his jaw while growling at his wolf as the last resort, "THEN DO SOMETHING, MORPHEUS! I AM GONNA DIE AT THIS RATE...AT LEAST INITIATE A SHIFT–"
~ "You should’ve thought about it before jumping off the building, you idiot!" But Morpheus grumbled back, sounding very anxious from his tone. "There’s no time in shift anymore...we are going to hit the ground in a few seconds... Thanks to your idiocy, both of us are going to have such a pointless death!"
"NO! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING..." Kylian cried, squeezing his words out of his throat which had completely choked from fear.
In those last horrifying seconds, he could sense a terrible heartache stirred inside his chest when Marita’s smiling face flashed before his vision, making him writhe in guilt and despair.
Deep inside his mind, he shrieked, ’Am I really going to have such a futile death? What about Mom...How she will live all alone? I wanted to give her a happy life...It was my dream and now I am dying?’
> "I will protect you with my life."
But at that moment, like a last glimmer of hope, Zenith’s promise to him while they were forming the divine pact echoed in his head, making Kylian reminisce the words he told Zenith before jumping off the building.
Thus, clenching onto that last hope of survival, almost reaching close to the ground, before the deadly crash, Kylian shut his tearful eyes and mustered all of his strength to scream at the top of his lungs, "ZENITH!!!"
In the flash of a second, a strong arm embraced Kylian tight, making him open his eyes with a fearful jolt. But the first sight that winced Kylian and left him speechless was Zenith’s beautiful big red glowing eyes. His pupils had shrunk, making his eyes resemble the orbs of a dominant Alpha wolf, as Zenith was gazing into him ardently.
