They had systematically dismantled the entire ogre vanguard. I noted with interest that Pisti didn't have to actively pour power into her creations; they would just attack whatever she designated as a target.

The fact that she could empower them to be five times stronger, based on what I saw during her spar with Morgiana, meant her Sacred Gear was even more versatile than I thought. I'd have to ask her about its other functions later.

I watched as Sanji, his leg a blur, kicked a goblin's head clean off before shouting over to Zoro.

"Hey, broccoli head! Take out those skeleton archers on the ridge!"

"What did you call me, you shitty cook?!" Zoro roared back, his hand on his sword.

"Just do it!" Alucard commanded, his voice cutting through their bickering.

"Tch," Zoro grumbled. "I'll get you after this." He then shot off like a bullet, a green blur heading straight for the archers.

Alucard turned his attention to the vampires. His eyes glowed a menacing blood-red, and I saw the lesser vampires actually recoil in fear. It seemed they could sense his lineage as the former Vampire King. He slammed his hands on the ground.

"EARTH SPIKES!"

Jagged spears of rock erupted from the scorched earth, impaling a huge swathe of the vampire ranks. Meanwhile, Sanji and Morgiana were a whirlwind of kicks, devastating the goblin lines.

Pisti, surprisingly agile, weaved through the remaining skeletons, dodging their clumsy attacks with ease before delivering a powerful kick that sent one of their skulls flying.

Alucard was just getting started. "BLADES OF BLOOD!"

Scythes of hardened blood shot from his hands, cutting through vampires and a few unlucky goblins that got too close. He then raised his hands to the sky.

"TWISTER'S IMPACT!"

I looked up to see the perpetually twilight sky begin to swirl, forming a massive, violent twister.

It descended upon the battlefield, sweeping up the rest of the vampires and any other unfortunate monster in its path, tearing them to shreds before dissipating.

….

When the last monster crumbled to dust, a heavy silence fell over the plain. I saw them all panting, their bodies covered in sweat and grime, but their eyes were shining with the thrill of victory.

I walked over and handed each of them a set of potions. Sanji and Zoro immediately fell to the ground, content to rest.

I reset the dungeon, but as I did, a new option appeared on the menu. A fifth difficulty level: Torment. I couldn't resist. I clicked it.

"You all rest up," I said, my voice resonating with a new energy. "It's my turn."

They all nodded, watching me with curiosity. The ground trembled again, and another army rose from the earth.

It was the same composition as before, vampires, goblins, skeletons, and ogres, but I could tell just by looking at them that they were stronger, their movements more menacing.

And standing at the very back of the horde was something new. It had the powerful legs of a goat, the muscular torso of a man, and a horned head with glowing red eyes.

I immediately used Observe.

Observe:

My eyes widened at his level. The boss let out a horrifying screech, a clear command to attack.

The entire army charged at me as one. A fiery aura exploded around me as the ogres reached me first, their massive clubs swinging down to smash me into paste. I jumped high into the air, over their heads.

"FIRE DRAGON'S BRILLIANT FLAME!"

A volley of concentrated fireballs rained down on them, taking out around twenty of them and heavily damaging another sixty. I landed lightly in the middle of the skeleton ranks.

"FIRE DRAGON'S RO-O-OAAARRR!"

A torrent of fire incinerated a huge chunk of them. I summoned my four sentry turrets to provide covering fire, then drew my new Moonblade, its legendary aura humming in my hand.

I charged straight for the ogres. I held the sword aloft and activated its ability.

"LUNAR SWORD!"

The blade erupted with ethereal, silver light, growing impossibly large until it towered over the ogres.

With a roar, I brought the massive sword down, smashing them into oblivion.

The impact kicked up a massive cloud of dust. I swung the giant blade again, this time horizontally, sending the dust cloud billowing over the vampire ranks.

I then jumped high into the air, bringing the sword down on top of them. As it made contact, the light faded, and the blade returned to its normal size.

When the dust settled, I saw that I had taken out nearly half the army with just two swings. I put my sword away and ran, a blur of motion heading for my next target.

….

With the last of the lesser monsters turning to dust, only one enemy remained. I stood on one side of the vast, scorched plain, and the Goatman boss stood on the other.

He reached over his shoulder and drew a sword from his back. It was a simple, unassuming longsword, but I could feel the malevolent power radiating from it.

He rushed at me, a blur of red skin and demonic fury. I drew my Moonblade, its silver glow a stark contrast to his dark aura, and brought it up just in time to block his attack.

The clang of steel on steel echoed across the desolate landscape. I pushed him back a step, the muscles in my arms straining.

I then used his resistance to launch myself into the air, bringing the Moonblade down in a powerful overhead strike.

He blocked again, the force of my blow driving him down and creating a deep crater beneath his feet.

He let out a furious roar and flung me off him. I used the momentum, twisting in the air and landing gracefully on the edge of the crater I'd just created.

I then used that same momentum to launch myself at him, my speed now amplified. He was too slow to block this time.

My blade flashed, and his left arm flew from his body, dissolving into dust before it hit the ground.

He let out a pained, infuriated screech. I landed and quickly got back into a ready stance. He held up his remaining hand, and a volley of dark fireballs materialized around him. He hurled them at me, a desperate, chaotic assault. I met his fire with its opposite.

"WATER BLADES!"

A series of spinning scythes made of pure, magically-infused water shot from my hands, slicing through his fireballs and causing them to sizzle and go out in clouds of black smoke.

I launched myself at him through the dissipating smoke, aiming to take his other arm, but this time he was ready, blocking my strike.

I backed off a bit, creating some distance, and then I remembered another tool in my arsenal.

The grapple launcher integrated into my Boosted Gear.

He wasn't expecting it. The grappling hook shot from my left arm, embedding itself deep in his right shoulder.

With a savage yell, I pulled on the cable as hard as I could. He was yanked off his feet and pulled toward me.

As he flew helplessly through the air, I took my Moonblade and shoved it straight through his chest.

He looked down at the blade, then up at me, his red eyes filled with shock before his entire body crumbled into dust.

I pulled my sword free and fell backward onto the scorched ground, panting heavily, my body aching.

"You did really good, partner," Voltaris's voice echoed in my head. "You didn't even need me."

"Pants I know," I managed to get out.

"You know you're bleeding, right?"

"Huh?"

"Your left side."

I looked down and saw a deep, clean gash along my ribs. The Goatman's sword must have nicked me in that final exchange. Before I could do anything about it, I heard a frantic scream.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

I looked up to see everyone standing at the edge of the crater, their faces filled with worry. Asia was trying to scramble down the steep incline without falling.

Once she got to me, she immediately knelt down and her hands began to glow with healing light. I tried to sit up, but a firm hand on my shoulder held me down.

"Just let her heal you," Zoro said, his voice stern.

"You're not getting out of it this time," Morgiana added, her arms crossed.

I sighed and relaxed, letting the warm, soothing magic stitch my wound closed. As soon as she was done, I stood up, feeling as good as new.

"So," I said, a wide, challenging grin on my face. "Want to try another army?"

The guys' faces lit up with excitement, but the girls looked exhausted.

"But haven't we been here for, like, a day already?" Asia asked, her voice tired.

I looked at her, confused, then glanced at the system clock in the corner of my vision. Only fifteen minutes had passed since we first entered the dungeon.

"Nope, not yet," I said cheerfully. "But I've got another dungeon I think you all are ready for."

The girls sighed collectively as I opened the menu and selected the 'Dragon' dungeon.

The world around us shifted, the scorched plain replaced by a rocky, mountainous landscape.

Before us, five dragons materialized, two hulking fire dragons, a graceful nature dragon, a sleek water dragon, and a crackling lightning dragon.

I smiled at this beautiful sight, then turned to the shocked faces of my peerage.

"Go ape shit."
