"Yes," I said, the word filled with a thrill of discovery. "Yes, I do. Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic."
"Hmm," Voltaris rumbled, the draconic equivalent of stroking a beard. "Well, as of right now, your shadow magic is just that—standard shadow magic. It's not Dragon Slayer magic. You could try to… eat it. Perhaps that would work. Ingesting your element is the core principle. But again, I'm not entirely sure if you can do that or not. This is just a guess on my part. But with the way you learn all these skills so easily, then I believe you do have a chance at success. Just don't blame me if you die."
"Wasn't planning on it," I grinned.
I dismissed my summons and the barricade, standing alone before the approaching horde.
I closed my eyes and focused, drawing on my newfound knowledge. A thick, inky cloud of pure darkness materialized around me, so dense it seemed to suck the very light from the dungeon's blood-red sky.
Then, I opened my mouth and tried to inhale it.
The moment the shadows touched my tongue, my insides felt like they were on fire. It was a vile, acrid taste, like drinking pure poison.
My body convulsed, every nerve screaming in protest. But I pushed through it, forcing myself to draw in more and more of the dark energy.
Slowly, agonizingly, the burning began to subside.
The foul taste lessened. My body started to adapt, to recognize the darkness not as a foreign invader, but as a part of myself. I could feel it—a new power, a new element, settling into the core of my soul.

A wide, triumphant smile spread across my face.
"Well," Voltaris said, a note of genuine awe in his voice. "Looks like you can."
I jumped up, feeling the cool, quiet power of the shadows welling up inside me. I took a deep breath, and this time, it felt natural.
"SHADOW DRAGON ROAR!"
A torrent of writhing shadows and ethereal phantoms erupted from my mouth, washing over the front lines of the skeleton army.
It shredded through them, not with explosive force, but with a silent, consuming power that left nothing behind. It did pretty damn well against them.

5 Hours Later:-
The dungeon floor was littered with the fading remains of thousands of monsters. I stood in the center of the carnage, crackling with electrical energy.
"LIGHTNING DRAGON'S HEAVENLY HALBERD!"
A massive polearm of pure lightning formed in my hands, and with a final, sweeping strike, I took out the last of the hulking ogres.
The dungeon faded, and I found myself back in my workshop.
I quickly chugged a few health and stamina potions, feeling the familiar warmth spread through my weary limbs, before heading back out to the main shop floor where Grayfia was waiting patiently.
"Are you ready?" she asked, her expression unchanged.
"You bet," I said, a new, darker power thrumming just beneath my skin.
….
"Are you ready?" Grayfia asked again as she began to form the teleportation circle.
"Hell yeah," I grinned.
As the crimson light of the circle began to envelop us, a familiar blue screen popped into my vision.
New Quest: Help the Devils
Details: Help Grayfia investigate and neutralize the supposed Dragon Slayer.
Rewards: $30,000 / 40,000 EXP / An Outfit of Choice.
The world dissolved and reformed around us. We were standing in a dense, ancient forest.
The air was thick with the scent of damp earth, pine, and something else… something wild and powerful.
I took a deep sniff, and a smile spread across my face. It was the distinct, metallic scent of a dragon.
"Whatever I fight, don't interrupt," I said to Grayfia, my voice serious. "Do not help."
"As you wish," she replied with a nod. "You should be able to return on your own. Please inform us of what happens."
"Okay."
She vanished in her own magic circle, leaving me alone in the silent woods. I followed the scent, a predator on the hunt.
For some reason, the smell of a Dragon and the smell of Dragon Slayer magic were nearly identical to my senses.
I ran, my feet silent on the mossy ground. I knew I was close; the smell was coming from everywhere now, blanketing the area.
I stopped in a small clearing and looked around, my senses on high alert.
And then I saw him.
He was leaning against a massive oak tree, his arms crossed, his eyes closed as if he were meditating. A long, black katana rested at his side. I couldn't help but smile. Standing right there, in the flesh, was a true anime badass.
As if sensing my presence, his eyes snapped open. He turned to look at me, his gaze sharp and calculating. I immediately did the only logical thing.

"Bitch, please," I retorted, a smirk spreading across my face. "You think you're high and mighty just 'cause you're a Dragon Slayer?"
I saw his fist tighten, his knuckles turning white. His sharp, red eyes finally locked onto me. "So, you're another one they sent to try and kill me, huh?"
There was real anger in his voice. Wait, did Sirzechs send assassins after him? No, that doesn't sound right.
