I reappeared in my personal blacksmithing workshop within my castle, my heart still pounding in my chest.

I immediately put a powerful barrier over the room, a layered spell designed to block sound, sight, and magical detection. No one was going to find me in here.

Needing a distraction, I opened my inventory and focused on the new skill books I had acquired.

Skill Books:

[Shadow Magic]

Details: Allows you to control the element of shadow to create and manipulate new spells.

[Lightning Bullet]

Details: Summons 25 projectiles of concentrated lightning magic to fire at your enemies.

I saw a few more, mostly minor passive buffs, but these were the only two that really caught my eye.

Would you like to learn these skills?

[Yes / No]

I thought Yes with a vengeance. Information flooded my mind, the intricate knowledge of shadow manipulation and the precise casting formula for the lightning spell settling into place as if they had always been there.

Feeling a bit more in control, I stood up, walked over to the forge, and got to work, channeling all my frustration and leftover adrenaline into the rhythmic clang of hammer on steel.

….

Hours later, I stumbled back from the anvil, sweat dripping down my face, my arms aching with exhaustion. But in the tongs was a finished blade, its surface gleaming with a soft, ethereal light.

"Fucking finally!" I gasped, wiping my brow with the back of my hand.

"Well, what do you expect?" Voltaris remarked from my shoulder. "It's a Legendary-class sword. These things aren't supposed to be easy."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," I admitted, my exhaustion giving way to a surge of pride. I held the blade up, admiring my handiwork.

Observe.

Observe:

Name: Moonblade

Class: LEGENDARY

Description: A sword forged with celestial ores and quenched in moonlight. This sword deals twice as much damage at night.

Ability - Lunar Sword: This sword holds the condensed power of the moon within its core. This ability unleashes that power all at once, causing the blade to grow to an enormous size to slice or smash any foe. This ability can only be used once every five minutes.

"This will be a very nice sword to use," Voltar-is said with genuine admiration.

"Agreed," I said, a wide grin spreading across my face.

Feeling accomplished, I dispelled the barrier and teleported back to my shop's main floor. As soon as I materialized, the bell above the door chimed, and it swung open to reveal…

The person who walked in was the last one I expected to see in my little shop. His long, crimson hair was unmistakable.

"Aw, Shiro, there you are," Sirzechs Lucifer said, his usual warm smile on his face.

"Yo," I replied, leaning against the counter. It wasn't every day one of the Four Great Satans just dropped by for a chat.

"I was just wondering if you could take care of a problem for me," he said, his tone casual but his eyes holding a serious light.

"You see, there is a place I've been wanting to have looked at for some time now, but any time I send someone there, they come back to me beaten and battered. I haven't the time myself; I have quite a few meetings for the next few weeks. I would go, but I thought you might want to, because everyone I sent has said the same thing."

"Which is?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

"They use Dragon Slayer magic."

A slow, predatory smile spread across my face. I couldn't help it. The thought of a real challenge, of fighting someone who used the same kind of power as me, was intoxicating.

"Looks like you're happy," Sirzechs observed, his smile widening in response.

"Oh, you have no idea how much fun this will be for me," I said, my voice filled with eager anticipation. "But tell me something."

"Hmm?"

"What type of Dragon Slayer magic do they use?"

"I'm not sure," he admitted, his expression turning grim. "The ones I sent say that the attacks are almost instantaneous. They don't have time to register what attacked them or what element it was."

"I understand," I said, my mind already racing. "Where is it? I'll take care of it."

Just then, a magic circle, the familiar crest of the House of Gremory, appeared on the floor. Out of it stepped Grayfia Lucifuge, her expression as calm and stoic as ever.

"I will be the one to take you there," she stated, her voice perfectly even.

"Okay," I nodded.

"Excellent," Sirzechs said. "I'll leave it in your capable hands, then." He then vanished in his own shimmering magic circle.

I looked at Grayfia. "Are you ready?" she asked.

"Well, yeah, but what's your take on this?" I asked, valuing her opinion.

"Hmm," she mused, her silver eyes analytical. "I sent a few high-class devils there myself, before Lord Sirzechs took over. One was around Riser Phenex's strength. I then sent another whom I believe was almost on par with a leader-class devil. When he returned defeated, Lord Sirzechs decided to handle it personally, as he didn't want anyone else to get seriously hurt."

"Do you think I can defeat them?"

A flicker of something, perhaps confidence, showed in her eyes. "Hmm, I believe so," she said. "I shall lend you my support as well, from a distance."

"Great," I said, feeling even more confident.

Grayfia began to form a magic circle for teleportation.

"Wait," I said, holding up a hand. "I need to do something first. It'll take about thirty minutes, and I might forget to do it when we get back."

"I understand," she said with a nod, dispelling the circle.

"Okay, thank you for understanding."

I went into the back room and, ensuring I was alone, activated my skill. Instant Dungeon. I selected the 'Medium Army' dungeon, curious to see what it entailed. The world dissolved and reformed, placing me on a barren, rocky plain under a blood-red sky. Before me was a shambling horde of skeletons in rusted armor, snarling goblins with crude spears, hulking ogres with massive clubs, and even a few pale-skinned vampires hissing in the dim light. Most surprisingly, there were a few elemental dragons, smaller fire and earth drakes, all clad in crude, ill-fitting leather armor.

A wicked grin spread across my face. It was time to try out my new toy. I summoned a very dark, oppressive aura around me, the shadows in the dungeon seeming to deepen and writhe in response. I thought back to the thousands of hours I'd spent watching anime, of all the different powers and abilities I had seen. A thrilling, audacious idea began to form in my mind. I wonder if I can create other Dragon Slayer magics…

I smiled at the thought. To give myself some breathing room, I summoned four magical sentry turrets, activated my Ring of Bats and Ring of Skeletons, and threw up a quick barricade of stone. I watched for a second as my summons engaged the front line of the enemy army, a chaotic symphony of crashing bones and snarling beasts.

"Hey, Voltaris," I said, turning my attention inward. "Is it possible for me to be able to create other forms of Dragon Slayer magic?"

"Hmm," he rumbled thoughtfully. "I believe it is possible, given the unique nature of your soul and your connection to the system. But I'm not sure if you will succeed. It would require immense focus and a deep understanding of the element you wish to command. Do you know which one you want to make as of now?"

"Yes," I said, my grin widening. "Yes, I do."

Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic.
