Chapter 319: The cessation
Xavier stopped in his tracks and withdrew his power before it could reach the barrier surrounding the Eagle tribe. It was difficult having to reverse the already cast spell but he had to because he could sense something going wrong behind him. And when he turned, his intuition became true. He saw Lyra’s mates on their knees. All of them were clutching their chest with a pained expression marring their faces. Especially King Blake and Lord Killian looked as though they were struggling to even breathe. He could take a few guesses as to why. He had once heard about the Snake King being his pretty female’s first mate, that connection would obviously be stronger compared to her other mates. But Lord Killian.....that he didn’t know the proper reason. He had limited knowledge about the rare Black Panther tribe.
Nonetheless, Xavier refused to dwell on matters that were irrelevant to him. He didn’t care for some males suffering but what did bother him was the reason behind their suffering. His pretty female, the only light in his bleak life was in danger. Mated males acted like this only when their females were in grave peril.
When he came to that conclusion, the only thing he saw in front of him was red. Raging anger muddled his mind making his power fluctuate, his pointed gaze landed at the barrier that was stopping him from reaching his female. The barrier encircling the Eagle tribe froze with ice covering it. An icy blue blizzard blasted the golden shield making the surroundings chaotic.
Kyrell clenched his fists and released his bloodlust when he felt his barrier falling apart. They were here, the ones who wanted to separate his beloved from him. He could have cast another barrier but stopped. Kyrell wanted to put an end to this properly today. Lyra was his female. He would not mind facing her mates and killing them if it meant she remained with him. He felt like he had held back long enough.
"Guards!" his booming voice reverberated across the tribe, "Protect your Queen" With that, he soared into the air with his wings casting a golden shadow along the ground. Kyrell shifted to his Beast form and flew toward the source of disturbance while the guards quickly retreated inside the castle closing its gates. The crowd dispersed to their homes to avoid getting caught up in the upcoming fight between the immortals.
[Back inside the Castle]
Nate bound Alice’s hands with a fabric and pushed her to the ground. Meanwhile, Alice writhed in her place hurling curses at him, "Untie me, you bastard! I am a female, you cannot treat me like this!"
"Then you should have behaved like one you witch!" he snapped back, "You had everything being a female and yet you decided to throw that away with your wrong deeds. Wait till his majesty gets here, you will have hell to pay, he will make sure of it’’
Lyta looked blankly at the bickering duo as they went on insulting each other. Her gaze saw one thing while her mind reeled in another thing, Nate’s previous words regarding Kyrell not betraying her kept on swirling and flashing in her brain. Her Kyrell, Her beautiful golden man really didn’t cheat on her, everything that had occurred between them was a cruel misunderstanding orchestrated by someone who hated him. But Lyra couldn’t help but question herself, who was it that had really hurt him? Was it really Alice or Lyra herself? It was her mates who had almost killed Kyrell in the first place, it was she who jumped to conclusions without discussing the matter with Kyrell.
