Chapter 277: The surprise

Lucas returned to his tribe with the hunting caravan. As soon as the light cold season hit them, his father the Wolf King summoned him to lead the silver wolves to hunt for the upcoming heavy cold season. Because it was almost impossible for one to hunt or find food during the latter. Until the cold season ends and spring arrives, it is ideal for them to horde as much food as they can to survive.
Reaching the tribe’s entrance, Lucas made his way inside while informing his tribesmen to clean all the prey that they brought back so that it could be smoked and salted. And later it was his mother’s duty to distribute an adequate amount of meat to each of the families inside their tribe. Offcourse females and cubs took the utmost priority regarding this matter. If the said female was pregnant then the prey she would receive was high compared to others. Meanwhile, the bachelor beastmen..... were never really given importance. This was how it was done in the best city and as well as all over the Beast world.
"Welcome back pup!" a sweet voice brought him out of his thoughts. Lucas felt a smile grace his face while he faced his mother. The Silver Wolf queen hurriedly stepped toward her son before hugging him, "I have missed you my little pup. You really should visit the tribe often, at least to see me and your father"
But the one to answer her was not Lucas but instead, it was her mate, King Helio. The latter had a soft smile identical to his son on his face as he said, "He is not our little pup anymore, love. Lucas is a mated beastman with a female and cubs to take care of" his last words indicated that he saw the lion cubs as Lucas’ rather than Noah’s. Those little furballs adored his son and Helio’s heart warmed whenever he saw them with Lucas.
"That’s right" agreed the wolf queen on her mate’s words, "Our little pup is not our own anymore" She knew this better than anyone else. Her father beast loved and cared for her the most in the entire world but the exception here was her mother. The love her father had for her mother was beyond everything else and couldn’t be compared. This was also the same for all the mated males. Their mates were their priority no matter the circumstances.
"I love you, as well Mother," Lucas said when he heard his mother’s words. She sounded both understanding and as well as sad at the same time. However, he didn’t want to dissuade her words too because they were completely true. He indeed loved his mate the most.
"Alright enough with this" The wolf Queen said trying to dissipate the awkward air around them. Then she held her son’s hand before tugging him towards the castle, "Let’s go inside, I have a surprise for you"
"Surprise?" Lucas asked in confusion and glanced at his father in the query because his mother seemed too excited to reply to him. But even his father ignored him until they reached the wolf castle where Lucas finally found what was going on.
"Luke!" a clear and familiar voice greeted him as soon as he stepped inside the castle doors making him freeze. Lucas couldn’t believe his eyes. Crystal eyes mimicking his own with luscious silver hair and a beautiful face. There in his line of sight stood his little sister with a soft smile on her face, "How have you been, Luke?"
