Chapter 268: Her struggles

Heath felt like he was dreaming. This was the best day of his life. His Elena asked him to visit her bedroom today. For the past few weeks, he had not even properly seen his mate’s face because she refused to meet all of her mates including him.
His mate had not been the same after his father-in-law’s death. She shut herself in her room and talked only with a witch master named Gregory. Heath on the other hand felt wary of that witch master. His instincts screamed at him to get his mate away from that beastman. The maddened look in that beastman’s eyes was very unsettling and bothered him to no end. Gregory looked like someone that would end the world if given a chance. So his mate’s involvement with that witch master worried him but there was nothing he could do. His mate was not even willing to see him or her other mates for him to talk until now.
Heath somehow wanted to bring that witch master’s matter to his mate but decided to hold back for now. Today, he wanted to spend as much as time he could with his mate and didn’t want to spoil her mood by talking about Gregory.
And when he finally came near his mate’s room, his heart started to thump loudly inside his chest. He gingerly stretched his hand forward and curled them before knocking on the door that separated his mate from him. She was just beyond that door and he wouldn’t wait any longer to meet her.
With bated breath, he waited until he felt the door slowly opening. And the one to open it was his Elena. She looked so lovely with her black hair cascading down her back while her beautiful eyes met his, "Why are you standing there like that? Get in"
Heath nodded fervently before shakingly entering the room. He saw as his mate closed the door before striding towards the bed.
"Come here," she said and he moved forward as though hypnotized by her.
Kalena observed all of his movements with a straight face. ’Fool’ she sneered inside her mind. The sight of him getting so excited just because she called him to her bedroom seemed so pathetic. His lover and mate were not here anymore and he wasn’t even able to recognize that. Shouldn’t he have already guessed about someone replacing his mate? Elena was gone from his life and he didn’t even seem to know anything about it. All of Elena’a mates were like that. They thought that their mate has just changed and didn’t dare rebuke her in any way. But what she could not deny is their love for Elena. They loved her wholeheartedly.
Would Adrian behave just like them if he was born in this world instead of the heavenly realm? Would he have loved her this much if both she and he were born here? And the answer to the question came easily to her mind. No, he would have still chosen that wench, Vanadey even if he was born a beastman. After all, he left his position as the archangel just to be with that bitch, and as well as threw away the person he had spent all his life with for her. Kalena had known Adrian all her life and vice versa. He was her only friend and the one that was always there for her when her mother died. And Kalena foolishly believed his care was love until he decided to leave her.
She briefly closed her eyes forcing herself to stop thinking about him. For now, she shifted her attention to the man in front of her. Gregory had informed her to at least behave like Elena to not cause any doubt amongst the tribesmen. Kalena was done with mopping in self-pity while locking herself inside her room. She was here to take her revenge and fulfill her life goal of destroying all the traces of Adrian that was left in this world. So she decided to do her part to not regret it later and what could be the best way to accomplish trust other than sleeping with one of Elena’s mates? By doing this, she could put a stop to all of the suspicions surrounding her and use the black wolf tribe to its complete potential.
