Chapter 251: Hoping for the best
Blake continued to observe the rootless beastman with eyes laced with anger. He had still not forgotten about Kaizer refusing to tell about their mate’s location inside the forest. Something was amiss here and he could feel it. Blake was sure that Kaizer would not have let their mate go without Xavier bringing her back to the Beast City. And none would believe his words if he mentioned this here. That rootless beast-man was the one that saved his mate’s life by taking her away from the Fox tribe after all. No matter what he says, only he will turn into a bad person in others’ eyes. Kaizer has done a huge favor for them he was thankful for that. However, that did not mean that he would completely forgive Kaizer and that also had to do with the current situation where this rootless beastman refused to take his filthy eyes off of his mate.
Noah shared the same sentiment as Blake. It was already bothersome enough that his mate had met a rootless beastman and was familiar with him. He didn’t want to add more trouble by bringing a rootless one into their family. He could clearly see that Kaizer or whatever had feelings for his mate and he could also see his mate oblivious to these feelings. Or it might be just that she tried to ignore it by acting ignorant even though she knew it.
And the truth was not far from what Noah was thinking. Lyra had six mates and that means Six males by her side. How could she not know about men...no about beastmen to be exact. She had seen it all and it was not rocket science to not know of Kaizer’s feelings for her. He was not even subtle in showing it anyways. His beautiful purple eyes were practically dripping with affection for her and Lyra purposefully ignored it. She knew that her mates didn’t quite like Kaizer and she didn’t want to bring someone like that and break the peace in her home. Kyrell’s betrayal also left a deep gash in her heart that taught her a very valuable lesson to not trust someone very easily. She was quite naive falling for a man that had abducted her before and did not want to repeat the same mistake.
Whereas Xavier who was left alone took his time observing everyone inside the room. The snake king and Noah were glaring at his hero meanwhile, the pretty female was looking at the ground as though something was interesting down there.
"I’m leaving" Xavier announced breaking the awkward silence. A smirk made its way onto his face when Lyra looked up at him. Then he started to walk out of the room not once breaking his eye contact with her until he completely disappeared from there.
Just as he was about to climb down the stairs, he cast a lingering gaze at the room where Lyra was. Xavier had still not learned about the cause of her injury and not knowing it bothered him too much. He just wanted to rip apart the one that had hit her and the worst part was that he felt annoyed at himself for thinking like this. Who the hell was she that she was making him go through these myriads of emotions? No matter how hard he tried to suppress these feelings, they seemed to only grow with each passing day, "I don’t know what to do" he voiced out to no one in particular before turning back and stepping down the stairs before exiting the rose castle.
Back inside Lyra’s room, Blake had enough of this rootless beastman staring at his mate, "Aren’t you going to leave?’’
This caught Kaizer’s attention. With great difficulty, he removed his gaze from his bunny before looking at Blake, "And why should I do that?’’
"Huh?’’
