Beauty in the beast world

Chapter 233: Mad man

[FOX TRIBE]

Xavier coldly looked at the scene happening in front of him. It was almost comical watching the so-called elders of his tribe concurrently blame Kyle—his subordinate. And the fun part here was that the same elders just a few months ago had urged him to take Kyle as his aid bragging about his power and loyalty. Aside from this, he also saw the only elder keeping quiet regarding this matter and he is Kyle’s father. The old man looked terrified of his son’s possible cruel future.

"This treacherous runt almost sold our tribe to those bastard strays," said an elder gritting his teeth. Then he earnestly looked at Xavier before adding, "Your Majesty, you should punish him severely for this"

"Yes, your majesty," another elder said agreeing with the previous one as he glared at the kneeling Kyle, "Let this serve as a warning for others in the tribe who might harbor such vile intentions"

As the arguments turned heated, Lexi, standing at one of the corners of the hall, kept clenching and unclenching her fists trying to calm her nerves. By now, her palms were etched with deep nail marks. She nervously glanced at her brother and waited with bated breath for his words regarding the matter. And she received that soon enough because Xavier curtly raised his hand stopping the audience from talking before he parted his lips, "Did you do it, Kyle?’’ these were his only words, and those too were directed at his aid.

Meanwhile, the elders got offended as their king totally ignored them as though he didn’t care about their opinions. And that was exactly what was going on in Xavier’s head. He did not give a dime about what those elders were babbling. Right now he was giving Kyle his chance to explain himself which no one was giving until now. Kyle was the one involved in this matter and he should be the one to talk instead of those old men.

It did not take long for Kyle to answer his king’s question, "I did not, your majesty. I would never betray you" His words were clear and filled with conviction which was heard by everyone present in the hall.

Xavier observed Kyle’s kneeling figure on the ground. The latter was badly beaten in the name of investigation. Old and new wounds adorned his face that it was almost difficult to recognize him. But what caught, Xavier’s eyes was the fire inside Kyle’s eyes. They were not dim and hazy but were burning brightly as he looked straight at Xavier.

At this moment, Xavier understood that all of it was the truth. Every word uttered by Kyle was nothing but the truth but only this was not enough to prove his innocence. So he addressed the next most important thing, "Do you have any evidence against my aid?’
