Chapter 161: I want her gone
Elena felt that she had heard something wrong. Yes, that was it! She must be misunderstanding Lexi’s words.
"What do you mean by that Lexi?" She asked meekly. Elena just wanted assurance from her friend but her face froze seeing the stern look in Lexi’s eyes.
"You heard me right the first time" Lexi’s tone was harsh saying, "The arrangement that you are asking me to stop was decided by the kings of other tribes. They wanted my brother to become your mate for him to enter the beast city. And this is a penalty for the black wolf tribe for ambushing the snake tribe. I ’CANNOT’ stop this even if I try"
Elena was stunned to hear Lexi’s resolute words. Now that she thought about it, Lexi was right. Even if Lexi tried to stop, the kings will never listen to her, and in the worst-case scenario, they could punish even her for interfering. Elena knew all of this but still, she wanted to believe that Lexi could stop this by talking to Prince Xavier.
"Lexi...Try talking to your brother. If he becomes adamant then no one can stop him right?"
Lexi couldn’t stop herself from chuckling at Elena’s naive words, "Do you think my brother will listen to me? I will be lucky enough to walk out alive if I discuss this with him. Xavier hates when someone interferes in his life. You do know about how he didn’t bat an eye while killing a female that annoyed him"
"But he is your brother...." Elena tried to reason but Lexi snorted at her.
Xavier never thought of her as his sister and Lexi knew that. Maybe he had a soft spot for her mother in the past but not the level of agreeing to everything that they say.
She sighed and glanced at Elena, "I’m sorry Elena. I cannot help you in this matter"
Elena furrowed her brows. She felt betrayed and lost. But more than anything else, she felt angry. Angry at herself for being so weak and at her father for deceiving her and Lexi for not even trying to solve her problem.
Lexi noticed that Elena was going to lose her calm and warned, "You cannot blame me for your father’s mistakes. If you want to shout and thrash then get out of here before doing that"
