Chapter 1009 - 1006: Fusion?
After a back and forth conversation with the world tree, Corey finally convinced the world tree that he was on her side, and was not there to harm her.
He told her what he planned on doing, and then the world tree chose to help him in destroying the death qi in her.
With the help of the world tree’s internal defenses and his instructions, they were able to destroy the death qi at a much faster pace. Much to the disbelief and anger of Anton.
"How is that possible? Why is my mana of death been destroyed? Why is the world tree getting better because of that mortal?" Anton scowled as his aura was slowly being unfurled due to the rage he felt.
The priest and the mage felt a threat to their lives because Anton’s mana had the death attribute to it, and staying so close to it was detrimental to them, especially since Anton was an Immortal and they were not.
They vanished and reappeared a dozen meters away from Anton.
"I don’t know what’s happening, but your anger won’t solve anything?" The mage said with a deep frown as he looked at Anton, and Anton looked at him with an emotionless gaze that sent chills throughout his very soul.
Anton’s black eyes were like the eyes of death where he saw himself laying on the ground as a corpse while maggots and scorpions ate him.
Sweat dripped from his entire body, and he took a step back in fear.
"He’s healing the world tree, and you’re telling me that I have no reason to be angry? A mere mortal is about to disrupt our plans."
A wave of death aura slammed into the priest and mage, causing them to fall on one knee in fear.
"Are you trying to kill us? Don’t you know what would happen if you do?" The priest looked at Anton with a frown, and Anton frowned deeply.
"I don’t take kindly to threats." He said coldly, and then a hand suddenly appeared on his shoulder.
"You should, since you’re still a child."
Anton’s pupils constricted into pinholes, and he swung his arm behind him. However, it was effortlessly grabbed, and the shockwave that would have occurred due to the power behind the swing was nullified.
"Why are you attacking? I bear no ill will toward you. I’m here to help you in fact."
Anton finally got a good look at the man who spoke, and if Corey were here, he would realize that the man was Pope Arzhel.
Anton frowned when he realized that he did not recognize the man. He shifted his gaze to the woman that stood behind the Pope. The woman had golden reptilian eyes and black horns with runes on top of her head.
If Corey were here, he would recognize her immediately as Tessa Liora.
"Who are you?" Anton asked with a solemn expression.
Pope Arzhel smiled and let go of the boy’s arm. "A friend... or an enemy. It’s your choice."
Anton narrowed his eyes, and then he looked at Pope Arzhel while rubbing his wrist.
"Since it doesn’t look like you’re my enemy, then why are you here? Are you here to help me?"
Pope Arzhel smiled, and then he looked at Corey with the same smile.
"Yes actually. I’m here to help you get rid of a particularly annoying problem."
Anton raised a brow. "Him? How is he a problem? He’s just a mortal. I can deal with him easily."
Pope Arzhel scoffed. "He’s able to survive up there, he’s making the world tree better, and none of you here have been able to kill him despite him being a mortal."
Pope Arzhel looked at Anton, and gave him a mocking smile. "Yeah. I’m sure you can deal with him easily."
Pope Arzhel shook his head with with a disappointed expression, and then he shifted his gaze to Corey and Pamela.
Anton’s eyes flashed with anger. "Are you insinuating that I can’t deal with a mere mortal?"
Pope Arzhel looked at him, and then he gestured at Corey.
"Then go. Deal with him. The mortal is right there isn’t he?"
Anton looked at Corey, and then his aura unfurled as he turned toward Pope Arzhel.
"I don’t like been looked down on."
"Well, start behaving like an adult. Shut the fuck up. Think. The situation could get better for us or a lot more... annoying for me."
Anton looked at Pope Arzhel who had a nonchalant expression despite being in the presence of his death aura.
’Who is this man? He’s just a Tier 6, but he’s not bothered by my aura, and he was able to hold my arm. I had not held back that time.’
Anton frowned deeply, and then he looked at Tessa Liora.
’And that woman also. She’s emitting the aura of a Tier 5, but she’s not affected by my aura in the slightest.’
’Are there many other abnormal people like these two in the outside world? If that’s true, then the decision of my father and the previous leaders of the Freedom Fighters was right. We can’t grow to their level if we keep on isolating ourselves.’
Anton’s eyes flashed with a strange light, and then he reeled in his aura.
"So? What do we do now?" He asked.
Pope Arzhel chuckled. "We wait obviously. There’s no way I’m going up there since I could literally die. But if you want to go, I definitely won’t stop you."
Pope Arzhel smiled at Anton, and the boy’s lips twitched. He said nothing, and Pope Arzhel shook his head.
"Then I guess we stay put and wait."
Anton folded his arms, and then he glanced at Corey for a moment before looking at Syrelle and Thalos.
They were still fighting even after all this while, and he could see both their conditions.
’They’re evenly matched.’
Meanwhile, as Corey healed the world tree by using his death qi to eliminate Anton’s death qi, the world tree told him something interesting.
"Fusion?"
