Book 6: Chapter 104: Caught Off Guard (part 4)
*Pant… pant…*
Lilith leaned against a wall, utterly exhausted, gasping as though her lungs were about to burst.
To escape the enraged Lesiah and Ciel, she’d been running nonstop for what felt like an eternity. Now her legs felt like they were floating on clouds—so weak and numb she could barely feel them.
“But… thankfully… I lost them.”
That was perhaps the only silver lining.
Lesiah was swinging her wood cleaver like a maniac, fighting 1,652 Ciel Hesses. The chaos gave Lilith just enough time to free herself from the ropes and make a break for it.
But she couldn’t relax yet. Lesiah and Ciel could catch up at any moment, and with her flimsy arms, short legs, and combat ability hovering near zero, it would be instant defeat if they did.
“Come to think of it… where am I?”
Only now did Lilith take a moment to look around. Her frantic dash through the darkness had left her with no sense of direction.
Before her stretched a quiet street lined with rows of streetlights. The pavement was clean and orderly, and unlike the dim, hanging lamps from before, these streetlights glowed bright and steady. A few moths fluttered lazily around the bulbs, dancing in the light.
Benches lined the sidewalk.
“Finally, a place to rest.”
