Book 6: Chapter 101: Caught Off Guard (part 1)
“Uhh…” Faced with the old man’s expectant smile, Lilith scratched her cheek, her gaze wandering. “I don’t really remember.”
“You don’t really remember?”
Old Gentleman leaned his wrinkled face closer, urging impatiently, “Then think! Come on—focus! You’ll remember!”
“But even if you say that…”
Lilith scratched her ears and cheeks, but no matter how hard she tried, her mind remained blank, like booting up an open-world game with only a tiny corner of the map unlocked.
“Though, if I had to guess…” She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “I don’t think so.”
“You don’t think so?” The old man suddenly raised his voice, startling her out of her thoughts. “How could you?!”
He shot to his feet, his sleazy old face twisting in rage, spittle flying everywhere as he scolded, “You’re such a disappointment! You’ve disappointed me! After all this time, you still haven’t achieved your goal? What a waste of that gorgeous skin of yours! If I were you, I’d smash my head against a block of frozen tofu!”
“Come on… It’s not that bad…”
“It absolutely is!”
Before Lilith could recover from the verbal assault, an invisible force grabbed her by the collar and flung her outside with a whoosh.
“Ouch…” Lilith rubbed her sore little butt, tears welling in her eyes. “You old jerk! What was that for?!”
