Book 5: Chapter 223: Night
Two hundred miles per hour… Three hundred… The old car was pushing its physical limits. Under Luna’s control, it became a blur among the traffic, weaving swiftly through the crowded streets.
Fortunately, it wasn’t rush hour; otherwise, even with the magic of the dragon language, the old car wouldn’t have made it an inch through the congested roads.
Luna quickly circled the city center. To her, three hundred miles per hour wasn’t fast; she could still observe the pedestrians as she drove. Faces of laughter, tears, excitement, disappointment, confusion, vitality, and numbness flashed by her in rapid succession.
Yet, no matter which face she glimpsed, none belonged to the person she sought. With no clear target or direction, she could only look at the faces cluelessly. Was she going to scan every face in the city? Impossible.
Luna had time, but no matter how much time she had, it wouldn’t suffice for such an enormous task, and she wasn’t even sure it would yield any results. Truth be told, she didn’t want to linger in this world for too long.
Despite its vibrancy and intrigue, it wasn’t her home. A few days of exploration would be manageable, but the longer she stayed, the more she would feel the loneliness that seeped deep into her bones.
Loneliness.
Loneliness…
Loneliness?
