Book 5: Chapter 222: Car
When Luna returned to the park the next morning, Tadashi, the little beggar, had vanished. The area in front of the bench was tidy, and his makeshift castle had disappeared without a trace.
It was as if every trace of the boy’s existence had been erased from the world.
Luna took a seat on the bench. The gentle morning sunlight filtered through the camphor leaves, casting dappled spots of light that illuminated her figure. Dressed in a casual sports outfit, she looked almost ethereal, wrapped in a colorful halo, reminiscent of a goddess in flowing silk.
In her hand, she held a cup of milk tea, sipping it slowly. The strong flavor rushed into her nose, while the intense sweetness nearly numbed her tongue. To Luna, it was hardly a pleasant drink.
Yet, it was the only thing she could manage to swallow. The freshly made soy milk she’d bought from a roadside stall had turned her stomach, and she had promptly vomited it after just one sip.
Fortunately, the weather was clear and sunny.
Luna couldn’t pinpoint why this thought crossed her mind.
She didn’t look for a new hotel the night before because she spotted her wanted poster on a television screen when she walked past an electronics store.
Although there was no real photograph, she felt a twinge of resignation—law enforcers in this world were relentless, and the sketch bore a striking resemblance to her.
