Chapter 52: Must Not Stop Dungeon Strategy (3)
Upon arriving at the capital city, attendants from the royal palace escorted me to a lounge as if they had been waiting. It was thanks to the game's very convenient lore that the dungeon where the Holy Sword was sealed was located right next to the capital. I ate the provided drinks and snacks as I examined the aspects of my party members.
First, there was Elf Princess Erina. She was currently pregnant, and her level was the same as when I first saw her. Since she was over level 30 anyway, there would be no problem with the dungeon raid of the Holy Sword Dungeon, a level 30s dungeon. After all, there were two people over level 40 in the party. Besides, there were only a few guardians inside the Holy Sword Dungeon.
Then, Hero AA. She sat with a relieved expression, seemingly having dropped off all the women. Erina was stuck to her side, bringing up trivial things like whether she was hurt. AA seemed to like it but also looked troubled by Erina's attention. It seemed her level had risen a lot, as she was nearing level 50.
An opponent I couldn't beat already seemed to have become as high as a star in the sky, and I inwardly soothed my regret. If I wanted to defeat AA and pin her to the ground someday, I needed to get a little stronger.
And the last member was Bellix Karin. With wavy blonde hair, blue eyes, large breasts, and an attractive armored figure, she was the royal palace representative of this party. I checked her status window.
Name: Bellix Karin
Class: Royal Palace Knight
Level: 34
Favorability: 45
Stats Strength: 100
Agility: 30
Intelligence: 60
Luck: 70
Traits
Arbiter
Deals double damage against rogue and pirate job classes.
Takes only half damage from said job classes.
Tracker
Tracks the location of individuals whose identifying features are known faster than anyone.
Torturer
Attacks other than with the main armament (sword and shield) will not kill the opponent.
They were bloodthirsty stats for a knight. The Torturer and Arbiter traits, in particular, were exemplary traits that let me know what kind of end Eve would meet when this bitch went to the port. I decided to be a little wary of Bellix Karin.
"It seems everyone is here now."
A high-ranking official from the royal palace appeared in the lounge where we were gathered and spoke. He said he would guide us to where the king was. Karin stood up like a bolt of lightning and followed the official, and I followed her. AA and Erina followed at the rear. Erina was busy clinging to AA and telling her she loved her.
To me, who knew she was a woman who would easily spread her legs for a man just for a baby, it was nothing but a joke. It was clear from the start that Erina's purpose for joining this party wasn't for justice or the Holy Sword. She must have come to see AA's face, since it was obvious she would participate. I wondered if Erina would be satisfied with the now-female AA's dexterity.
"You've all come."
The king greeted us with a very weary and serious expression. That was my first impression upon entering the antechamber and seeing the king sitting on his throne. He was very tired and old. It was likely because he hadn't found the leisure to rest his mind and body properly from the recent incidents. In the original work, the king was just someone who gave and received quests, so I didn't know what kind of impression he gave, but seeing how this country was run and his current posture, he seemed to be a rather good-natured person.
He spoke with a faint smile, as if our party was very reassuring and welcome.
"During the previous Demon King Subjugation, it was confirmed that Evangeline was plotting the resurrection of the Demon King. Furthermore, we were also able to confirm that Evangeline was mobilizing the mermaids to attack the Trade City Esta. Therefore, I saw that we must devise a countermeasure before Evangeline begins her activities in earnest."
When the king pointed to an attendant, the attendant unfurled a map with a rustle. The map, drawn for us to see easily, depicted a large cave next to the royal palace. The cave on the map was blocked by a solid stone wall. A unique script was written in front of the stone wall, and one had to input a password using this script to enter.
"Therefore, I intend to lay the cornerstone of preparation against Evangeline by awakening the sealed Holy Sword near this capital city. It is said that this dungeon where the Holy Sword is sealed is fraught with dangerous traps, and it is tightly sealed with a password to prevent the danger from leaking out."
Of course, I knew this password. In-game, if you asked the king again after he gave the quest, he would tell you the password. The password was 'Luminous,' the name of the game developer that created [Heroine's Legend].
"After long research, our archaeologists have discovered the password to enter the dungeon, and it is said to be 'Luminous.' However, no expedition team sent by our kingdom has ever returned from this dungeon. I cannot hide my grief at sending you to such a dangerous place. I wish you good fortune in battle."
And so, after listening to the king's opening address, we headed for the dungeon. If he was going to do this, why not do it in front of the dungeon? Why bother preparing an opening address? As I grumbled inwardly, Erina, who had been in the middle of a sweet secret talk with AA, approached me.
"Isn't it Princess Erina?"
"I hear you feel sexual desire for the scaled ones."
"I didn't realize a princess would dispute my married life."
"Shut up. You filthy bastard. Just because you became an elf, how could you do that kind of act with a mermaid? Even my mother couldn't hide her shock at your lewd conduct. Aren't you ashamed of Peta Sirius's name?"
"And has our Princess Erina only performed acts that bring no shame to the name of a princess?"
Erina immediately shut her mouth at my question. If we were to go for a base rush, Princess Erina would be at a disadvantage. My private life was out in the open, but the princess's scandal was still hidden. If she kept bothering me, I had no choice but to take us both down. I asked.
"You didn't come here just to start a quarrel with me, did you?"
Erina lowered her voice.
"I haven't told AA that I'm pregnant yet."
"So you've hidden your pre-marital pregnancy."
"Shut up. I plan to get together with AA somehow during this dungeon raid."
"So why are you telling me this story?"
"Just keep your mouth shut until then. I told AA that I discovered a secret art for women to have children together. I plan to get together with AA today, and as time passes, show her my swelling belly. As you wished, this child will become AA's and my child."
"I see. But how did you persuade the Queen?"
".....It's none of your business."
If I were Erina's mother, I wouldn't just be grabbing the back of my neck;
I'd be foaming at the mouth and fainting. From the way she spoke, it seemed she had managed to get the queen's permission somehow. In truth, it was none of my business what excuse she used to have a child. It was just funny that Erina was trying to insist that two women could have a child together somehow. And it was just as funny that AA believed it.
What a dumbass princess. This is what happens when someone is coddled inside a palace.
"Yes. Well, I wish for the Hero's and your happiness."
Erina frowned at my words and said.
"You really are a strange man."
It didn't seem like something a princess who got pregnant with another man's baby to hold onto her lover should say, so I just laughed it off. Just like that, we left the capital city and arrived in front of the dungeon. The dungeon was, in every sense, a typical dungeon from an RPG game.
Two gargoyle statues stood in front of the cave, and torches were burning. A security guard standing watch in front of the dungeon saw us, entered the password for us, and opened the door. The guard said.
"So far, no one who has passed through this door has ever returned."
It was the same in the game. The only problem was that for all the intimidation, it was an excessively easy dungeon. The Holy Sword Dungeon was one of the really easy events in-game. Perhaps because it was designed with the protagonist's solo play in mind, the number of enemies was smaller compared to other dungeons of the same level, and their patterns were simple.
However, having experienced several times that game and reality were slightly different, I entered the dungeon with a little tension. In the game, only one guardian appeared, but in reality, a robot shooting a machine gun could appear the moment the door opened.
And the door opened, and we descended a long flight of stairs down to the first basement floor. On the first basement floor, there was a giant golem. Piles of bones were stacked all around. It seemed the majority of people couldn't even get past the first floor.
The golem, too, was broken and damaged here and there, as if it had been fighting for a long time. We stopped in front of the golem and assessed the situation. Karin said.
"They were all crushed by a strong, heavy blunt weapon. It seems they were done in by this golem... but I don't understand its operating principle."
"Maybe there's some kind of requirement?"
"How about we get a little closer?"
We were still some distance from the golem. At the suggestion to get closer, Erina made a reluctant expression. To be honest, I wasn't keen on it either. Standing in front of a golem that looked twice my build was something I didn't want to do, even in reality.
But the fearless Karin and AA took a step forward first, and at the same time, the golem's ocular glow lit up. I quickly opened the status window to check the golem's status.
Name: Stone Golem
Race: Stone Golem (Altered)
Level: 32
Stats
Strength 89
Agility 20
Intelligence 0
Luck 0
Traits
Magic Resistance
Is resistant to magic. Takes 60% less magic damage.
Physical Resistance
Is resistant to physical damage. Takes 60% less physical damage.
"Altered?"
"Yes?"
AA heard my mumble and looked back. I hastily shook my head and said.
"No, it's nothing."
The 'Altered' tag on its race was a somewhat puzzling element. But besides that, there were plenty of other things in the status window to worry about right now. For starters, the Stone Golem's base stats were a bit of a hassle.
Its stats were unremarkable, but it was wrapped in passives that would be a headache to break through. I drew my mace, Karin drew her shield and sword, and Erina drew her bow. AA, in the middle of drawing her sword, glanced at the golem and said.
"It looks like it wants to say something?"
The moment we all stopped, the golem opened its mouth.
"Among you, only the chaste can open this door."
At those words, I frowned, and Karin tilted her head. AA thought for a moment, then turned her head and said.
"Erina! Our Erina can do it."
Ah, fuck. I'm screwed.
