Chapter 243: A Crack
Amelia had arrived at the office extra early in the morning.
Thank goodness for the local bakeries and their popularity among the white-collared workers, because she never thought a cake shop would be open so early. She wasn’t even the first customer there that morning when she arrived, and was but one of the many who left with an assortment of delicious pastries a few minutes later.
She had selected a nice cake, some tarts, and a couple of pastries she thought looked and smelled amazing. While lunch wouldn’t be too far away, she hoped that Aiden would appreciate the sweets to go with his morning coffee, especially considering how he was not a morning person at all.
Whistling a merry tune, she arrived at the office soon after.
"Have a coffee and wait for me here later during lunchtime, Sean," Amelia said to the bodyguard Matteo had hired for her. The striking man frowned as he looked down at her.
"But―"
"The office is safe," Amelia said. "Aiden’s there too. If anything, I am more worried about someone unwanted showing up."
Eventually, the muscular man nodded.
After saying goodbye to Sean, Amelia slipped into the upstairs pantry to store the cakes in the fridge so the cream wouldn’t melt.
