Chapter 101: Arrival
Lesterat was even more beautiful than the brochures advertised. After a long, relatively peaceful 8-hour flight, Amelia felt refreshed as she disembarked from the plane, breathing in the crisp winter air.
She glanced up and marveled at the cloudless blue sky, her breath coming out in puffs of smoke. A light breeze blew past her, and she couldn’t help but shiver.
"Are you cold?" Matteo asked, but before she could even reply, he immediately took off his scarf to wrap around her neck.
His scent filled Amelia’s nose, causing her to shiver for an entirely different reason. Heat filled her cheeks, and she had to remind herself to act normal and not to do something ridiculous like plant her nose into his neck and sniff like an animal.
Matteo was just being kind. She should not read anything more into his gestures.
"Thanks," Amelia mumbled into the soft wool of his scarf. It felt warmer than anything she had ever owned. "But what about you? Won’t you catch a cold?"
"I run hot," Matteo said, the corner of his lips tilting into a smirk that sent Amelia’s heart racing.
He stepped closer to Amelia and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him so that they were pressed chest to chest. Heat was radiating off him like a furnace, or perhaps Amelia was simply feeling feverish from the close contact.
"Feel it for yourself," Matteo offered, one of his hands reaching to hold her own to press over his heart.
