Chapter 259: Affair
Margaret moved to the window, looking out at the quiet street below. The world seemed so calm and peaceful, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had been her life with James. She felt a sense of relief and liberation, knowing that she had made the right choice for herself and for Lily.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. She turned to see Fredrick coming back into the room, a warm smile on his face. "Everything okay?"h he asked, his eyes filled with concern.
Margaret nodded, smiling back. "Yes, everything’s fine. I was just... taking it all in."
Fredrick walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. "I know this is a big change," he said softly. "But we’ll get through it together. You’re safe here."
Margaret leaned into him, feeling the strength and comfort of his embrace. "Thank you, Fredrick. For everything."
He kissed the top of her head, holding her close for a moment longer. "You don’t have to thank me. I’m just glad you’re here."
They stood like that for a few minutes, savoring the closeness and the sense of security that came with it. Margaret felt a renewed sense of determination. She had made a difficult decision, but it was the right one. And with Fredrick by her side, she felt ready to face whatever came next.
After a while, Fredrick pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes. "How about we take a walk? There’s a beautiful park nearby, and I think the fresh air would do us both some good."
Margaret smiled, nodding. "That sounds perfect."
