The Twisted Obsession

Chapter 233: Ruin everything

Cage frowned as the doorbell rang, interrupting the solitude of his evening. He hadn’t been expecting anyone, especially not at this hour. Setting aside the document he had been reviewing, he made his way to the door, a sense of unease gnawing at the back of his mind.

Peering through the pinhole, he caught sight of Lily standing on the other side, her eyes red and swollen from crying. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her distress, a surge of concern flooding through him as he wondered what could have happened to bring her here.

For a moment, he debated whether to answer the door or ignore her altogether.

But then, seeing the raw vulnerability in Lily’s eyes, he knew he couldn’t turn her away. With a resigned sigh, he unlocked the door and swung it open, his expression guarded as he regarded her with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension.

"Lily," he greeted her, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "What are you doing here?"

Lily’s gaze met his, her eyes pleading for understanding as she struggled to find the right words. "I... I needed to see you," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can I come in?"

Cage hesitated for a moment, his mind racing with conflicting emotions. But then, seeing the desperation etched on Lily’s face, he stepped aside and gestured for her to enter.

"Of course," he replied, his voice softening with compassion. "Come in."

As Lily stepped into Cage’s home, a wave of relief washed over her. She felt a sense of gratitude towards him for allowing her in despite their complicated history. Cage closed the door behind her, his eyes never leaving her face as he led her into the living room.
