Chapter 167: Nervous
Remo stepped out of the steaming shower, a cloud of warmth enveloping him as he reached for a towel. The bathroom was filled with the lingering scent of soap and shampoo. He briskly dried himself off, the soft fabric soothing against his skin.
As he wrapped the towel around his waist, his gaze wandered towards the foggy mirror. Through the mist, he caught a glimpse of his reflection—damp hair tousled, steam rising from his shoulders. With a satisfied sigh, he combed his fingers through his hair, coaxing it into some semblance of order.
Remo pushed the bathroom door open, expecting to find Abby already dressed for the will reading. But to his surprise, he was met with a sight he hadn’t anticipated.
There, sitting on the edge of the bed, was Abby, her hair still damp from her own shower, her eyes fixed on some distant point. She appeared lost in thought, a faraway look in her eyes that Remo couldn’t quite decipher.
"Abby?" Remo called out, his voice breaking the silence of the room.
Startled, Abby’s gaze snapped to his, her eyes widening in surprise as if she hadn’t noticed his presence until now. She blinked, as if trying to refocus her thoughts, before offering him a faint smile.
"Hey, Remo," she replied, her voice soft and distant.
Remo couldn’t help but feel a pang of concern at the sight of her.
"Are you alright?" Remo asked, taking a step towards her.
