Chapter 113: Ferris wheel
Remo returned her smile, his eyes shining with happiness. "It’s going to be a great day," he replied, his voice filled with warmth.
Martha and Charles walked beside them, their expressions reflecting the same sense of joy and anticipation. Martha’s eyes sparkled with childlike wonder as she took in the colorful sights and sounds of the carnival, while Charles’s face was alight with a rare smile, his spirits lifted by the company of his loved ones.
As they entered the carnival grounds, Abby couldn’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia wash over her. The familiar sights and sounds brought back memories of her childhood, of carefree days spent exploring the wonders of the carnival with her parents by her side.
But amidst the joyous atmosphere, Abby couldn’t shake the sense of unease that lingered at the back of her mind. She knew that her father’s life and hers was in danger and she couldn’t help but worry about their safety, especially with Remo by her side.
As if sensing her concern, Remo reached out to squeeze her hand reassuringly. "Don’t worry, Abby," he whispered, his voice low but comforting. "We’ll stick together, and we’ll be fine."
Abby nodded, grateful for his reassuring words. With Remo by her side, she knew that she had nothing to fear.
But amidst the laughter and excitement, Abby couldn’t shake the feeling that they were being watched. She glanced around, her eyes scanning the crowd for any signs of danger, but all she saw were smiling faces and carefree laughter.
