Chapter 363: Phoenix Rising
As a child, Sebastian had been raised to rule. With everyone around him, and himself as well knowing that thd title of CEO would be his as soon as he came of age.
In fact, it had been to the point that when he had been introduced. It had been as..."This is Sebastian, the future head of Haven Group" That was what he had grown up knowing he would become one day... the CEO.
But then as a young adult, that position that he had always known would be his, had been taken away from him and given to Jasper of all people, his own twin chosen over him.
like Sebastian was nothing, like he was just used up goods. A newer, better model had been discovered, and he had been tossed to the side. It had stung. In fact, it had more than stung. It had burned his ego, his soul and for the longest time
Sebastian had thought that he would not be able to recover from it.
But he had recovered and in doing so he had sharpened his mind and hardened his heart. Slowly cutting away all weak human emotions from it. Unintentionally getting himself ready for what was to come. On the day that he had killed his brother. That had been what had saved him from losing his mind to grief and guilt. Allowing him to keep going on with his life.
That was the moment when Sebastian had known for sure that he had been robbed, that the position of CEO should have been his in the first place. Many other people would not have been able to forgive themselves for killing their own brother, their twin.
But Sebastian had been able to find it within himself to forgive his own wrongdoings. That, as far as he was concerned, was the mark of a great leader, someone with an endless capacity to forgive.
Things should have ended there, with Sebastian having proven to himself that he was worthy, and then getting to become CEO thanks to the death of his brother. But that was not the way that everything had turned out. Instead, he’d had to watch as his sister-in-law took charge.
For a brief instant, he had entertained the thought of killing her as well. Taking her out just like he had done her husband.
But he had realized that if she died too soon after the death of his twin brother, it would be suspicious. The police had already stopped looking into Jasper’s case by then, and he did not want to give them a reason to open it up again. Not only that, if something were to have happened, to his sister-in-law, then Sebastian would have been left in charge of his nephew.
