There was great sex, and then there was fantastic sex.
What he and Emily had going was so amazing that it did not belong in either category. There was just no describing it. In fact, every time Derek tried to come up with a word that would sum up what they did together when they got down to business. How they connected in more than just the physical sense. His mind instantly switched off. Everything that he tried to say coming out as nothing more than gibberish.
It almost sounded as though he were having a stroke.
Somehow, sleeping with Emily had reduced him to sounds such as ’gar’ and ’uugh’, and other undignified sounds. In any other situation, Derek would have taken great offense to having his mind reduced to a single cell like that.
But the situation with Emily was different.
Any sex that robbed a man of the ability to form coherent thought was nothing other than mind-blowing. And to top it all off, it was not just sex as it had been in all of his past almost relationships.
What Derek had with Emily was real. Not only was it real, there were literally no lies, no secrets between them.
In the past, Derek had always known that he played a huge role in his past relationships not working out. Not being upfront with his partners about the sleeping problem, that he was experiencing affected his relationships negatively.
More than once he had been accused of being cold and closed off. Of not willing to share anything of substance about himself.
