Chapter 1889 - 1907: Conference Turmoil (Part 2)
From the night before last until now, so much time has passed, and after one phone call after another, we still can’t get this damn bastard to come here. So many leaders are waiting for him alone, he must have a death wish. What’s even more infuriating is that he’s the core commander of this mission, yet he and Lei Hao are utterly useless here.
Sitting here with Lei Hao is just a joke!
Tu Cheng has grown up always laughing at others, never being the butt of the joke himself.
Tu Cheng’s mind is swirling with countless thoughts, each one wishing to tear Huo Beijiang to shreds, finally, they all converge into one: Let his brother immediately sever ties with that useless Huo Beijiang.
Lei Hao stared at Tu Cheng’s extremely unpleasant face, just as restless, constantly feeling the eyes around glancing over, with his calves trembling.
The elderly man sitting at the head drank his third cup of tea, finally losing patience, "Someone should just bring him here, even if they have to tie him up, right?"
Another elder chuckled slightly and said with a good-natured grin, "Heh heh... If that Bei Jiang kid could be easily tied up, he wouldn’t have gone to Kannaya."
Everyone sitting in the front row burst into laughter, "Elder Song, you’ve hit the nail on the head with that one. That guy isn’t someone who’ll be captured without a fight."
"When he was at military school, he single-handedly turned the entire place upside down."
"I remember this kid would always drive his grandfather crazy."
Amidst the lively chatter, although what Huo Beijiang did this time was excessive, if it were anyone else, they would’ve been dead a thousand times over. But many present here are indeed broad-minded and appreciative of talent, so they said nothing.
But where there is admiration, there’s also scorn, "How dare Huo Beijiang! He even dares to disobey orders on the battlefield; anyone else would have been court-martialed long ago."
"Court-martial? Even court-martial eligibility needs qualifications; an ordinary person would’ve been executed on the spot."
Sitting in the middle row, Xi Liqun couldn’t take it anymore and shot back, "What are you talking about? Disobeying orders on the battlefield? Where’s the battlefield now? What era do you think we’re in? You still think it’s fifty years ago? It’s a time of peace now; communications are so advanced, it’s nothing like before."
The one he snapped at turned red and thick-necked with anger, unable to say a single word! Because in a moment of impulse, he did say something that shouldn’t be said.
"Alright! Stop arguing, call and find out where he is." Elder Song put an end to it decisively.
Immediately, a confidential secretary went to make a phone inquiry. After a while, he hurriedly returned and whispered something in Elder Song’s ear, causing his previously smiling face to suddenly darken. After listening to the secretary, he waved him away first.
Everyone in the meeting room was sharp-eyed and could tell at once that something had gone wrong. Just didn’t know what sort of matter could change Elder Song’s expression.
It must be something big!
A trace of worry flashed in Tu Cheng’s eyes; just now the confidential secretary had called as ordered to inquire about Bei Jiang’s whereabouts. Thus, the matter that changed Elder Song’s face must be related to Bei Jiang.
As soon as this thought flashed through, Tu Cheng felt a very bad premonition. Thinking, did that bastard do something outrageous again?
Hopefully not!
Certainly not, how could anything outrageous top the awkward situation before them now? Clearly, it was a mission of utmost importance, yet it was his deliberate evasiveness that turned it into such an ordeal.
