He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact

Chapter 706. Work done

Kailen directed his monitoring away from the Count of the Castelan district. His first focus was to monitor the Count of Coldridge district.

"This makes things easier," Kailen thought.

In the Count of Coldridge’s estate, the Counts of Coldridge, Valemont, Windermere, and Grimwood were gathered together in a living room. Kailen squinted his eyes. He studied them with rapt attention.

"I can’t believe his daughter is still alive!"

Bang!!!

The Count of Coldridge district slammed his hand hard on the table, causing it to break into splinters. His vampiric eyes gleamed with anger and frustration.

"Keep your temper in check, Asnoleun. We know you have every right to feel this way, but losing your cool won’t change anything," Rasila, the Count of Valemont said, crossing her fur-like legs.

"Rasila has a point," Onyx, the Count of Windermere district, said, his titan frame towering over everyone. "No one hates that bastard more than the four of us. He gets to become a rank 4 novice-stage transcendent when we are stuck a rank below him. That bastard really had the gall to band with other transcendents from Cinderwall City to wound us and monopolize the principle fragments of a secret realm we all discovered."

He added, eyes bleeding with killing intent and laughter, "But let’s look on the bright side. He’s miserable these days because of his daughter’s situation."

"That’s not enough. Thanks to the stunt he pulled on us back then, we were all wounded for 100 years. Instead of focusing on advancing in strength, we had to hire light transcendents and pay large amounts of money for them to focus on nursing us back to health," Grace, the Count of Grimwood district said.

Her voice was calm, but it was laced with pure hatred for the Count of Castelan district. Earning the nods of the others, she added, "We should strike him now. He’s more vulnerable because of his daughter’s situation."

Everyone agreed. "I’ll make a few calls and have him dealt with," she added.

As Kailen listened from the mountain range, he got the full gist of the whole situation.

"Turns out this Count of Castelan really has some dramatic history with these fellows. It’s clear from their conversation, though, that they are all in on the attack on his daughter together," Kailen thought. "No wonder it was crafted so meticulously. They are about to launch another attack against him, too. It seems they plan on hiring more skilled assassins this time."

He deactivated the Principle of Space. He stopped the monitoring. He had gotten the information he needed.

"From the looks of the situation, the Count of Castelan and his daughter will definitely have a tragic end," Kailen thought. "But that’s none of my business. The mission was to identify the culprit and find a covert way to inform him about it. Whatever happens next is none of my business."

Kailen documented everything he had found from the interaction between the four Counts. He changed the settings of the source of the information to anonymous so that it won’t be traced back to him. He sent it to the inbox of the Count of Castelan’s social media account.

Whether or not the Count saw it, or took action, or whatever, didn’t matter to him. His work was done.

In the Count of Castelan’s residence.

The Count was staring at his inbox. He had a smile on his face. From the information in his inbox from the anonymous person, the four Counts wanted to have revenge on him for what happened several years ago.

It made perfect sense to him now. He didn’t blame them. But if he had another chance, he would have made the same choice. Power came with a price. He did what he had to do to become strong and ensure his daughter’s safety.

"They plan on hiring assassins to deal with me, huh. Those fuckers think I’m vulnerable now that my daughter is injured. Heh." A cold light flashed through the eyes of the Count. "They want to play the game. We will see who will have the last laugh."

He added, "Whoever this mysterious benefactor is, though, thank you."

Naturally, he didn’t know that his mysterious benefactor didn’t give a fuck two ways about him. Kailen was already on his way to his house.

Dawnseer Guild

In the Dawnseer Guild, several guild members were relaxing at several lounges—relaxing areas where some met to relax and discuss mundane stuff. Some were taking in alcoholic beverages, which could not make them drunk, courtesy of their transcendent physiques. They were taking the alcohol for the fun of it. Giggles rung here and there.

Suddenly, someone standing before a mission board stared at the holographic screen with a shocked expression on her face.

"This..."

Her expression caught the attention of several others. Why did she look like she had just seen a powerful chaotic beast?

"The Count of Castelan mission has been completed."

Her voice, barely a whisper, was heard by all. After all, everyone here was a Transcendent.

"Hehe, she must have been traumatized by some mission to be spouting bullshit," someone chuckled.

The Count of Castelan mission was one of the high-difficulty missions. Even among high-difficulty missions, it was so difficult to complete because there were no leads to follow. Even intelligence organisations were not helpful in finding clues. How could it be completed? It was not labeled a mission with high difficulty for no reason.

Someone standing close to her, an elf fellow called Branham—here to pick another mission after completing his previous mission with his friend—curiously glanced over. What he saw left him shocked.

[ Count of Castelan mission.

Difficulty level: High.

Taken and completed by: Kailen Darkhaven

Rewards obtained: 400 contribution points, 1000 gold coins ]

He could not even speak. This... Did that newbie everyone, including himself, thought was overestimating himself by picking a high-difficulty mission, really complete this mission?

"What’s wrong with Branham? He seems to be behaving the same way as that lady."

"Quick, let’s go and check the mission status!"

Several guild members proceeded towards the particular mission board.
