Chapter 163: CH 163: A trustworthy person
Jackie leaned back in his chair, his hands steepled together. "It’s not so far. It’s only about a few days’ distance from here," he said, before concluding the distance. "By car, we should arrive in a day and a half."
Dave then calculated in his mind, before interjecting, "By beasts... I don’t think it should take that long."
Jackie’s face lit up with enthusiasm, his voice filled with excitement. "Then we must assemble some people to go to the location," he said. "We’ll need some people from the merger side, and some from the beast tamer side," he continued, his mind already racing with the possibilities.
"We need this to build a relationship between both groups, and what better way?" he added, his eyes meeting Dave’s. The air was filled with anticipation, as they began to discuss the details of their plan.
"I’m glad you noticed that both sides are a little bit on edge," Dave said, his voice thoughtful. "Like you said, putting them on this journey will build their relationship, but before that happens, a lot of rifts will likely occur between them." The words hung in the air, and Jackie nodded, his expression contemplative.
He thought about it for a moment, the silence punctuated only by the sound of his pen scratching against a piece of paper. "Their infighting might draw unwanted attention, thereby ruining our chances of getting the spaceship, the one and only spaceship we could ever get our hands on," Jackie reasoned, his voice filled with concern.
He leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he considered the potential consequences. "We need someone strong and supportive of both sides to be on the journey with them," he continued, his mind racing with possibilities.
He then paused, his gaze drifting towards Dave. "I guess I’ll go with them, then." Jackie said, his voice filled with determination.
But Dave’s response was immediate. "Nope, that won’t do," he said with a firm voice. "They already know your position in the faction, so they won’t want to fight or do anything stupid," he explained.
"If they want to bond, they’ll need to fight with each other and work things out. Only when they bond will they be able to convince the others who are doubting this alliance." Jackie nodded to Dave’s words, a look of understanding on his face.
"But that isn’t the main problem," Dave continued, his eyes locked onto Jackie’s. "The main problem now is, how do they pilot the spaceship to this place after they find it?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity. "Is there anyone capable of piloting it?"
Jackie’s response was swift, a hint of optimism in his voice. "We could find someone, anyone who could pilot it. Retired pilots, an air force member or something." he said, his words laced with confidence. "It shouldn’t be that hard, right?" He leaned forward, his eyes locked onto Dave’s, expecting agreement.
