"Hello, are you there. Over." Dave said, awaiting a response from the other side. For a moment there was silence, and the three cold have sworn they could hear the heartbeats of each other. But then, a crackling voice came through.
"Silas, Kim? Is it you guys?" The voice was breathless, but it was unmistakably Gunther’s.
Kim’s face turned pale, his eyes wide with shock. His name, "Kim," hadn’t been used or known by anyone in the group, only Gunther ever called him by his full surname. It was a small detail, but it hit hard.
Silas, too, had no words for a moment, but finally he managed to reply. "Yes, yes, it’s Silas and Kim. Where are you, Gunther? We thought you were dead... Those beasts, they—"
"Right, I figured as much." Gunther interrupted, his voice carrying a tense edge. "But it’s a long story. Listen, I’m a bit stranded out here. I don’t know how long it’ll be before the beasts come back. Are you still on the road?"
The group exchanged looks, and then Silas spoke up, determination in his voice. "Yeah, we’re still on the road, but we’ll turn around now. We’re coming right over to get you."
There was a brief pause before Gunther responded, his voice full of urgency. "Okay, don’t be late. Over."
