"What? Your own cousin?" Nathan Fletcher looked astounded.
Nathan Fletcher had never even dreamt that the girl he once liked was actually his relative.
Looking at Serena Summers’ back, Nathan Fletcher felt the situation was utterly absurd.
It took a long time before he managed to force a smile more painful than tears, coming to terms with this reality.
After the three of them arrived at the hospital, Serena Summers asked in a low voice, "Which room is your brother in? Take me to see him."
Before Nathan Fletcher could speak, Claire Lane stared at her warily, "What do you want? I warn you, Lucas is very weak now and not fit to see anyone. No matter what you’re planning, I won’t let you see him."
Serena Summers sighed and explained, "Even if you stop me now, Dean Carter will bring me here tomorrow anyway. If it weren’t for hearing you mention this tonight, I couldn’t be bothered to intervene."
"What do you mean? How could Dean Carter possibly let you come?" Claire Lane said skeptically.
"I’m the head of research of Group Three; there’s nothing strange about that, right?" Serena Summers chuckled lightly, seeing their confused looks, she elaborated, "Dean Carter called me over because my husband, Lucas Shaw, was kidnapped seventeen years ago too. He managed to escape by luck, but he also contracted a strange poison."
Finally understanding, Claire Lane and Nathan Fletcher exchanged a glance, a glint of light flashing in their eyes.
