Chapter 1772 - 1771: Do You Think I’m Not Romantic Enough?
"Satisfied? What are you dissatisfied about?" An Hao tilted her head, looking at Qin Jian with a slight curve of her lips, her dimples faintly visible.
"Because you bought the right flowers," Qin Jian replied.
"Aren’t carnations typically used for visiting patients? The florist told me that, and besides, I also understand the language of flowers!" An Hao said with a smile. "Why? Were you worried I’d end up buying red roses?"
"Isn’t that the case? Back at the flower shop, while you were choosing flowers, your eyes lingered on those red roses countless times. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?" He wasn’t blind.
"Yep, I was looking at the red roses. So what? You don’t actually think I’d be foolish enough to give Yan Ye red roses, do you?" An Hao chuckled bitterly, glancing at Qin Jian. "Seriously, Captain Qin, is your brain on vacation? Yan Ye and Qiushu are about to get married. Why would I give him red roses? Besides, the one I love isn’t Yan Ye. So why would I send those roses?"
"Then why did you ask about the price of the red roses more than once? Not to mention, you seemed to hint at wanting to buy them more than once. What was that about?" Qin Jian was perplexed. "Were you planning to give them to me? Or were you hoping I’d give them to you?"
"What do you think?" An Hao grinned.
"I’ve figured it out. You’re upset with me for not being romantic enough! From the time we got married until now, I’ve hardly given you any gifts! You’re using this as a way to remind me, aren’t you?" Qin Jian ventured a guess at his wife’s intentions.
"Pfft... Hahaha!" An Hao finally couldn’t hold back her laughter. "That’s enough! When have I ever complained about you not being romantic? If I wanted roses, I’d tell you directly! Why would I resort to such a roundabout method to remind you?"
"Really?" Qin Jian sounded skeptical. "You really don’t find me unromantic?"
"Of course not." An Hao playfully winked, stood tiptoed, and cupped his cheek with one hand, saying, "Actually, did you know? I’m totally into your cold, ascetic face!"
"Ascetic face"—though Qin Jian had never heard the term before, he could more or less guess what it meant.
"You’ve got some unique tastes."
"Maybe so. I just love how serious you look! To others, you appear aloof and unapproachable, but you treat *me* with unmistakable tenderness!" An Hao looked into his eyes and said, "That version of you feels like it belongs solely to me."
"You... I’ve never heard you say that before." Qin Jian admitted, surprised. His wife always seemed to catch him off guard in charming little ways.
"Am I selfish?" An Hao asked.
"No, I like your selfishness." Truthfully, he would rather her thoughts be entirely focused on him, leaving no room for another man.
"Well, that’s perfect. Since you like it, I’ll make sure to reward you tonight..." An Hao teased cheekily.
The two of them were so lost in their flirtatious bubble that they completely neglected their surroundings. Passersby all turned their attention to them, laughing behind their hands and whispering about the overly bold young couple.
By the time Qin Jian came back to his senses, he realized everyone was laughing at them.
His ears turned slightly red as he muttered, "Wife, does this mean you’ve publicly teased me on the street?"
"How embarrassing," An Hao’s cheeks flushed as well. "People probably think I’m *that* kind of woman."
"I know you’re not," Qin Jian reassured her as he wrapped an arm snugly around her waist. "Let’s go—time to visit Yan Ye."
"Mm," she replied.
"But still, you’ve got to tell me why you kept staring at that bouquet of red roses earlier."
