Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1527: No true immortality

"I didn’t think that that being would be able to copy my abilities and pass it down to you that easily... but it seems that I was wrong. That isn’t surprising since you already have a small portion of the time aspect. Still, he shouldn’t be able to see things here..."

Lonos’ guess was wrong, but that also made Rain think a bit... how was the overseer able to see and study the basic skills of the aspects? Was it because the dragon god challenged them at some point? It was hard to imagine that he would be able to pull such a stunt and survive intact...

"Am I wrong? I see... it is a combination of skills that you have with some of the time aspects."

Rain clicked his tongue in annoyance... when he relaxed a bit, Lonos was able to see a future where he obtained the information that he wanted. That was how the future usually works... there are many paths and they keep splitting further in the future. Like a future where Lonos would learn the truth and another where he wouldn’t learn.

Eventually, they would split into futures where Lonos would be able to find a solution to that and another where he wouldn’t. About the future that, he wouldn’t learn, and the secret would split into two, where he would be attacked again in the same manner and fail to understand it once again or understand it. It is quite messy...

"It looks like you deserve to experience the next level of the time aspect... still, our job would have been a lot easier if we had access to that kind of information beforehand. We could have saved hundreds of thousands of years worth of experiments."

As Rain maintained his focus, his expression remained stoic and composed, his mind clear and his senses sharp. Yet, despite his efforts to remain unfazed, a slight twitch betrayed the frustration beneath the surface.

Lonos’s convoluted strategies and tactics got on Rain’s nerves, testing his patience and resolve at every turn. The overseer’s penchant for mind games and planning was tiresome, to say the least, and Rain found himself growing weary of the constant mental gymnastics required to outmaneuver his opponent.

However, amidst the frustration, Rain recognized that Lonos’s strategy, albeit infuriating, afforded him some valuable time to plan his own counterattacks. While the overseer danced around with his schemes, Rain seized the opportunity to strategize and prepare his next moves, ensuring that he remained one step ahead of his adversary.

Rain raised his guard and sharpened his senses to react to the next attack... all of a sudden, he got punched in the face only one time, and he clicked his tongue since he didn’t feel the attack... the feeling that it gave him was different than before as well.

"The second level, huh?" Rain thought. "This might be a pain."

All of sudden, again, Rain got punched two times in the face, and his nose broke. Rain took a deep breath to focus more, but he was starting to have the feeling that things wouldn’t be so simple...
