Chapter 16: A Woman Who Changes Her Mind?
Clara Bennett was momentarily stunned: "What do you mean by that?"
Samuel Grant took a deep breath, sat on the chair beside her, and wore a faint, ambiguous smile: "Don’t you feel dizzy?"
Clara suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, gritting her teeth as she asked, "Did you drug the air? How is this happening? I haven’t touched anything!"
Samuel replied, "Of course, because the drug disperses in the air. To make the plan work, I also went tough on myself and got poisoned too."
Clara understood: "So it was the incense... Samuel Grant, you really are a sly villain!"
She struggled to stand by supporting herself on the table, but her legs gave out, and she sank back into the chair.
Shortly after, Samuel also collapsed.
When Daisy Stone entered, she found both of them unconscious.
She immediately covered her nose with a handkerchief, doused the burning incense with water, and then used an antidote to revive Samuel.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he rushed to Clara’s side, brutally grabbing her hair to force her head up, and said viciously, "Clara, you really fell into my hands. You want to become William Foster’s wife? Just wait for what happens tonight and see if that man is still willing to marry you."
From behind, Daisy reminded, "Don’t ruin her hairstyle; it’ll be troublesome to imitate later."
Samuel replied coldly, "Got it, hurry up and change clothes."
