Chapter 23: The Search Begins
The boys are in the woods and started their search. Amari keeps stopping and takes deep breaths to get Nana scent and the direction they were going in.
’’How did this happen?’’
’’I don’t know, I just know someone took her.’’
’’Where were you when this happened? If you knew they took her, why didn’t you try to save her? What if she’s already de-’’
’’Apollo! Calm down. I wasn’t there when she was taken but I heard her cries. The only thing we should be focusing on is finding her now, anything else we’ll worry about afterwards.’’
’’Okay... I’m just really worried for the worst-case scenario.’’
They keep walking deeper into the woods and it is very dark. They hear numerous howls coming from deeper in the woods, Amari steps on a dry stick and it slowly makes a cracking noise. Apollo holds his hands up immediately, ready to fight whatever is coming.
’’Calm down, it’s just a stick... I’ll tell you when danger is on the way.’’
Apollo nods and they keep walking. It gets to a point where the woods are pitch black and they can’t see anything including the trees and Apollo trips over a rock and falls.
’’Why don’t you get on my back? I’ll carry you.’’
’’No! I’m not doing that.’’
’’Why, you won’t be lucky next time, and you might hit your head on a rock next time. Plus, I can see what’s through this darkness and you can’t, just do it.’’
