Chapter 2580: Mourning The Dead
The man in black finally let out a delightful smile. "Has it been completely exposed yet?" He asked wickedly.
His fingers twitched a little, and a spell was soon cast, targeting the two mummified corpses. Abruptly, they made a fearful howling, while sharp teeth grew in their mouths. Then, they rushed towards Yun Yanli in an eager attempt to bite him.
The voice of the mysterious man was like a curse surrounding the square like an echo. "It is either you die, or they die. Yun Yanli, you can choose to use the Scarlet Moon Skill to absorb all of their grievances and let their souls vanish in peace, or you can choose to be a good son and sacrifice yourself for them to devour your flesh."
Everything happened too quickly for Yun Yanli to make a decision. After all these years, he finally realized that he was merely a tool in someone else’s grand evil plan. The man was solely responsible for his parents’ suffering, and yet he had always treated the man like he was a saint. Yun Yanli finally understood what the man had done to break his family apart, but he no longer had the ability to avenge his parents.
That is it, Yun Yanli thought. He decided it was time to repay his parents for the misery that he had brought upon them. He did not want to live a guilty life anymore. He closed his eyes and awaited his death.
However, before the corpses sank their teeth into Yun Yanli’s neck, Di Fuyi cast a spell in time to save him. A drop of liquid seemed to be absorbed by Yun Yanli’s skin. It felt cold and smelled rotten.
Yun Yanli opened his eyes, only to see the two corpses standing still right in front of him. Their faces were hideous, but tears could be seen rolling down their eyes. Were they crying? Did they recognize him?
"Father! Mother! You know who I am, don’t you?"
Their mouths opened and closed in an uncontrolled manner, exposing their sharp teeth. Obviously, they were being controlled. Normally, they would do as instructed. However, they were reluctant to harm their child.
