Chapter 174. Beginning of the Tournaments!!
(Asher’s POV)
Hand in hand with Anna, I stepped into the classroom—and it was buzzing. Louder. Busier. The energy was electric as students hustled about, prepping for the upcoming Tournaments. Everyone was hyped.
And then there was Lorraine. Sitting at her desk, arms folded, expression colder than ice. Even after that mixer, I still had zero intention of talking to her. But Anna—being Anna—had other plans.
She tugged me along until we were standing right in front of Lorraine’s desk. I stayed quiet, trying not to roll my eyes.
"Hey... Lorraine!!" Anna chirped, waving with her usual sunshine smile, extending a hand for a shake.
Lorraine didn’t even flinch. Just narrowed her eyes with that frosty glare and turned her face away. "Don’t talk to me like we’re friends."
Anna tilted her head. "Aren’t we?"
"Just go away. The both of you!" Lorraine snapped. But Anna, ever the ray of hope, refused to back down.
"I thought we were friends... and if we’re not, then why not?" she asked, sincerely.
Lorraine’s fists clenched, her body stiff. "You’re so annoying!!"
I sighed, rubbing my temple. "Anna, let’s just go. This girl’s got issues."
