Chapter 129. How Not to Introduce a Demon to the Human World
Rose undressed Anna slowly, piece by piece, until she was completely naked. Then she began the examination.
It took a while as we silently watched her inspect every inch of Anna’s body.
Finally, Rose let out a sigh. "It seems there are two curse marks on this girl. One is here." She brought Anna’s right hand up, showing us her palm. "And the other’s on her forehead."
I exhaled sharply. "Can you do something about them?"
"Sure... I’ve perfected my curse arts over the years. I can easily identify the one on her forehead—it’s the Mark of Malice. Its responsible for why Draegonoth tried to take over her body. It acts like a magnet, attracting all surrounding malice into the host. Draegonoth feeds on that negative energy, growing stronger from within. However—"
I narrowed my eyes. "However...?"
"The mark on her hand is a mystery. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’m willing to bet that’s the one that bastard used to get inside her."
"So... does that mean we can’t remove Draegonoth from Anna?" I asked, lifting a brow.
"Yeah. But I can remove the Mark of Malice. That’ll keep Draegonoth suppressed. She should be able to live a normal life after that—if she stays away from hatred and anger. Those emotions would only feed the demon inside her."
I sighed. So there was no way to get Draegonoth out—for now, at least. "Alright. Get rid of the mark on her forehead."
As Rose got to work, I couldn’t help but glance down at Anna’s innocent, sleeping face. How could something so evil have taken hold of someone so pure? But at least, if the mark is removed, she might finally be able to live normally again. I’ll study all the ancient magic I can find... until I find a way to draw that demon out of her.
