Residence Affairs
One thing to know–Whether in this world or another–Was that starting a business was an expensive venture. Therefore, even though Anoteros was loaded with money, even if you didn't count the funds hidden away within the system. It did not mean that he shouldn’t plan for when he opened his first business.
He needed to think about where to sell these goods.
As an Elt, he inherently had connections to the other great clans. However, he didn’t want to limit his customer base to just them… After all, with his monopoly over the realm and its resources, he could permit himself to sell his goods at a low price.
It would cost him nothing to gather the materials, even if he didn’t set up anything to make the harvest simpler or faster. This meant that he could try and target the lesser cultivators as well, which included those who had been lucky to stumble upon cultivation techniques, those who were part of independent organisations like the Myriad-Arm Sect, as well as foreign cultivators.
Although Leynlornd was one of the main nations–If not the main one– With a focus on cultivation as a way of power, it was not the only one.
Due to its wealth, it naturally attracted cultivators from all over the place, whose funds could potentially be very high... Edrick wanted them all as his customers, so he needed to pick an accessible location to set down shop. He obviously had thoughts of opening several locations, but at first, he thought it best not to expand too much.
There was also the matter of the size of this shop, of course…
All of these reasons were why Edrick was currently sitting in his office, counting his money with Yifei and Shu by his side. The former was already in charge of finances to begin with, and the latter would be the one in charge of all his future businesses and related ventures.
His two maids did their best to stay focused, but were somewhat distracted because their master was wearing the Clear-Sighted Glasses. It was frankly hard to imagine Edrick with glasses… Thus, the image was hard to look away from.
Anoteros readjusted the glasses on his nose. Truly, anything he did or said seemed to turn everyone in this house on instantly. Well, everyone except Deormann.
Speaking of which...
The offspring Edrick made with Muxing had been growing up well under the supervision of his mother. She had been doing an excellent job from the very beginning, so Anoteros was considering putting another baby in her… Though he wasn’t certain whether to go for another full-sasquatch, a hybrid, or something more human with a feral aspect…
To him, Muxing’s expertise lay more with the first two categories–Strongly so with the first one. It was just a feeling that he had, but in his eyes, Muxing was made to give birth to beasts and monsters. How she had perfectly raised and taught Deormann so far was proof of that.
The young sasquatch was still a juvenile, but he shouldn’t be that far off from adulthood.
He had the exact same posture and body shape as the late sasquatch lord, and his blond fur really gave him a majestic presence, especially since he was being cared for within the residence, so his fur was always pristine.
Though his majestic presence was a bit damaged by how submissive he was in his father’s presence... Or rather, by how he expressed that subservience–Which was by hiding behind his mother.
That worked rather well when he was smaller, but now, it just looked ridiculous. It was another show of Muxing’s talent, though. This was her first time raising anything, and yet, the larger and stronger Deormann was utterly convinced that as long as he stayed behind her, everything would be alright.
He displayed no signs of aggressiveness against anyone within the residence, being quite docile.
In short, Muxing had followed his instructions perfectly whilst still raising her son with love. Clearly, he had not been wrong to give her the position of head of the nursery back then.
‘I guess I’ll reward her by letting her choose what kind of child she will carry next…’
Edrick rubbed his chin in thought. He would have to find more maids for the nursery wing in the future. After all, it was not only supposed to be a place where maids would carry his children, whatever their nature may be, but it was also the place where maids were supposed to care for the children that he had outside of the wing… Such as with his wives or other maids.
This place would need a lot of personnel. However, just like with the rest, he couldn’t just pick anyone. The nursery was perhaps the most critical area of the residence. Newborns were fragile after all… It wouldn’t cut it to just have maids bearing his crest. They needed to have some expertise or natural talent in the matter... At least the maids who were supposed to specifically care for the children definitely did.
Those who would only be here to breed wouldn’t need to have such skills developed, as their only purpose would be to get pregnant and give birth.
‘Maybe I should let Muxing seek and present some to me? She does seem like the sort who could discern talent in those areas…’ Anoteros had not forgotten that although Deormann existed thanks to him and his sasquatch bloodline, that it was nonetheless impressive for Muxing to have given birth to him so easily.
As impressive as his abilities may be, he knew very well that a human woman was not supposed to have the morphology to carry and deliver a sasquatch baby… Not to mention that she did all of this without bearing his crest, and before he had earned a bunch of boons that boosted fertility and the like for all his possessions.
He had a good feeling about Muxing’s future.
Edrick thought about all of the possibilities with the maid if he could acquire more bloodlines from other creatures, whilst counting his current funds.
Once he was done, he sent Yifei and Shu away. Then, he called Jingyi over to his office.
The headmaid looked the same as usual. Pretty, slender, pale, and alluring.
“Jingyi, have you been making progress on unlocking your special constitution?” he asked.
Although calling her many traits just ‘constitution’ was misleading, he honestly didn’t have any better terms to describe it.
“I apologise, Master… But I have not sensed any progress for a long while now” she replied, looking quite aggrieved about it.
“Don’t be so sad about it, it was obvious that it wouldn’t be an easy affair… Come closer” Anoteros motioned for her to step forward.
“I am certain that you feel bad because Fanqia unlocked her bloodline, while you unlocked nothing, yes? Well, there is no need. You have much more to unlock than a bloodline, and furthermore…” he brought out a bottle full of spherical pills.
“Thanks to her newfound abilities, Fanqia has been able to create these pills. They are supposed to help one bring out their bloodline potential… The recipe for these is simple, and they are thus of lesser efficiency... But they were made by someone with Velvet Pixie powers, so there is no risk to consuming them, and their effects are as good as it can get” he pushed the bottle closer to the maid.
“I believe that if you can awaken one of your special traits, the rest will quickly follow. Therefore, I’ll grant you some more free time to focus on this. Now that Yaling is here, you can leave things to her for a little while. It will help her settle into her new duties as well”
“Thank you, Master”
“It’s no problem, you are one of my most prized possessions, after all…”
