Chapter 96: Not Impossible
Lyle stood a few feet away, his arms crossed as he watched the procedure with an intensity that made the assistants in the room shift uncomfortably.
As Liam inserted the needle into her vein, Eira winced but didn’t flinch. The clear tube connected to the syringe slowly filled with her blood, the crimson liquid a stark contrast against the pristine white of the lab.
"Her vitals are stable," one of the assistants noted, monitoring a screen nearby.
"Good," Liam said, withdrawing the needle after a few moments and applying a small bandage to Eira’s arm. "That’s it. I’ll begin the analysis immediately."
Eira flexed her fingers, relieved the process was over. She stood, but before she could step away, Liam stopped her.
"Wait, Ephyra," Liam said, his tone more serious now as he set the blood sample aside. His sharp eyes locked onto hers, studying her with renewed interest. "I need to ask you something before you go."
Eira paused, exchanging a glance with Lyle, who took a subtle step closer, his protective aura evident. "What is it?" she asked cautiously.
Liam adjusted his glasses, his expression thoughtful. "Have you noticed anything unusual about yourself lately? Symptoms, sensations, or even emotions that seem... out of place?"
Eira frowned, crossing her arms. "Not really. Unless you count the constant chaos surrounding me as unusual."
