Chapter 19: Doubleganger
As Kai came back to his senses, he slightly pushed the two women off of them. But to not break their hearts, he decided to play along with them, at least for now.
"Mom, sis, I’m so glad you’re okay. But right now, we have to make sure everyone gets out of here safely."
"Yes, yes, you’re right. I’m just so happy that you’re okay. You really did keep your promise and got adventures to help us!"
"I’m so proud of you, little brother. I’m positive you’ll make it into the hero academy now!"
’Okay, okay, slow down! Too much information is flooding my head right now!’
"Kai?" Josh walked over. "I didn’t know you’re family was here. You should have told me!"
Kai waved his hand, brushing the comment off. "We need to get everyone out of here, and take the dead so we can bury them."
"Right. Priorities." Josh nodded. "Excuse me, but can you tell us if there are any other places where people are being kept?" He asked some people.
"I-I know." An elderly man answered.
Sophia walked up to him, her sweet smile soothing the scared, shaking man. "Can you tell us where they are being kept?"
"J-Just on the other side. There should be an entrance there. B-But I think that’s where they dump the ones they killed. E-Eveyone who went there never made it out. E-Excpet Kai."
