Chapter 14
The conversation was postponed until the next day.
It was too late at night to talk, and Red was tired, so she wanted to wait until she could have a clear mind after a good sleep.
Since it wasn’t urgent, I followed her suggestion without protest.
The next day, after breakfast, Red and I entered the office and sat across from each other at the table.
Red rested her chin on her hand and looked at me with a curious expression.
“Really, is that you?”
I nodded.
Red squinted her eyes and stared at me intensely.
She must have heard about me from Rene, but she was probably trying to judge for herself. Her sharp eyes were carefully scanning whether my words were true or false.
I wasn’t guilty of anything, but I still felt nervous.
I worried that if I met those red eyes, my identity would be exposed, so I subtly avoided eye contact, not daring to look directly into them.
Maybe it was because her fierce expression made it feel even scarier.
