Chapter 19: Shadow Weaver
Jett stepped into the Warden Mansion's treasure storage and immediately spotted a new shelf holding Noctlisa's dowry. From a distance he couldn't make out the items—everything was cloaked in dark hues.
I'll go through them with Noctlisa after I grab my reward from the Storage Orb.
With both maids waiting at the threshold, Jett approached the gently spinning orb. He pressed his palm to its surface, excitement pounding in his chest.
His first quest had showered him with riches, and he wondered whether the system would keep that pace or throttle back so it didn't overpower him.
The orb abruptly stilled, and a bright golden light burst from beneath it, bathing him in its glow. A heartbeat later the sphere cracked open, revealing a dark core from which a small hourglass in a gilded frame drifted free. It twirled slowly, sand cycling from one bulb to the other like a toy for antique lovers.
He extended his hand, letting the hourglass settle onto his palm.
