Chapter 94: Demonized?
Edith’s panicked voice resounded in Aaliyah and Miguel’s ear.
However, it was already too late.
The demon heart landed and exploded into a purplish mist everywhere around the spacious area.
The demonized beast were blasted as they fell to the ground after a batch of purplish mist emitted out of them. The color of their eyes slowly returned to normal, however, their bodies started to dry up until they fell down like a complete corpse.
Edith, who was only a meter away from the purplish mist explosion felt the full brunt of it.
The purplish mist explosion was very strong. However, it did not blow any debris away like any normal explosion would.
Instead, only the purplish mist spread everywhere, and Edith, who was the nearest, was bathed completely with this explosion of purplish mist.
...
Back in the cave where the bandits and the captives were.
The sudden tremble of the mountain alerted all of them.
They stood up in panic, not knowing what was going on.
Although slight tremors would be felt from now and then due to the wails, it was now morning and the wails should no longer exist.
BAM! BAM!
At this moment, the mammoth, the bandit leader’s summoned beast, slammed its massive head towards the cave’s wall.
Earlier, it was just drinking water calmly not far away from them, but it had now suddenly turned into this state the moment the tremor on the earth occurred.
"Calm down, calm down!"
The leader tried to calm it down but to no avail.
It still kept on slamming the wall, blood had already started to come out of its head.
It was getting out of his control.
"HAHAHA! That’s retribution for what you’ve done to us," a mocking voice suddenly resounded.
Everyone turned to look at Gasper who had already sat up. His face was still bruised and badly beaten.
Just like a normal contracted beast, a beast that was bound using a Summoning Crystal doesn’t have an eternal loyalty to their summoner.
Usually, low level people don’t usually use high grade Summoning Crystals or beasts, as there was a risk of them breaking free if their strength was not enough to suppress it.
Like the grimoire, Summoning Crystal only acted as a beast storage, and a middleman. They were not the one that binds the beast, instead it was the summoner’s spiritual capability or strength.
The leader stared at Gasper hatefully.
"Beat him up until he could talk no more," he said angrily as he stared worriedly at the uncontrolled mammoth.
He gritted his teeth, and tried to unsummon it to the Summoning Crystal but to no avail.
’Shit! This is bad,’ the leader thought to himself after feeling that the mammoth was about to break free from his grasp.
When it completely abandons and breaks away from him, it would also cause the Summoning Crystal to break. If that happened, that would surely be a huge loss on his part.
Especially since he had not capitalized his acquisition of the mammoth yet.
In truth, he only managed to contract this mammoth in this same cave a week ago when they were searching for a suitable place to make a temporary hideout for their plans.
At that time, the mammoth was very weak and he was able to contract with it quite easily. After he treated it, it began to follow his command, albeit not every time.
It was also because of his acquisition of this mammoth that he became the temporary leader of this operation.
Now, if this mammoth breaks out of its contract and breaks the summoning crystal in the process, it would be a disaster for him.
He secretly prayed that it won’t be the case though.
...
Back at the center most and deepest part of Ghost Wail Mountain.
As soon as it spread in the entire room, the purplish mist also evaporated into thin air, making the area clear again as the color of the surroundings also returned to normal.
The aftermath of the battle became clear for anyone to see.
Corpses of demonized beast were everywhere some were disfigured and slashed into two, while others were burnt to crisp while the majority became shriveled like a dried up corpse.
Not far away from the center was Silver Colored Absolute Shield, within it was two people, and a jet-black grimoire adorned with bronze engravings at its border.
They were Miguel, Aaliyah and his jet-black grimoire.
At this moment, both of them had an ugly look on their face as they stared at the situation dozens of meters ahead.
The moment the purplish mist subsided, Miguel instantly dispersed the newly upgraded absolute shield before carrying the weakened Aaliyah over.
There, Edith laid weakly in the ground. She was disheveled and looked extremely weak.
Purplish veins began to spread on her arms and then towards her neck and all over her body. She was breathing roughly and she seemed to be running out of breath.
Her blue stormy eyes slowly dimmed, being slowly replaced with a red hue, a clear sign of demonization, and it was spreading extremely fast at that.
Miguel put Aaliyah down gently and knelt beside Edith.
He held her hand, extremely sorry for what she experienced.
Due to the fact that he was very far away from them, he was only able to use [Shadow Steps] right beside Aaliyah and shield them from the purplish mist explosion using the Absolute Shield. Although both of them were safe, the same could not be said towards Edith who received the full brunt of the explosion of the purple mist.
As he knelt beside her, Miguel closed his eyes and channeled one drop of Origin Energy on his fingertips and tried to heal her using it. He already knew that Origin Energy was the bane of the demonic miasma.
However, to his demise, the Origin Energy actually dissipated out of thin air the moment it came into contact with her now purplish skin.
It was not that the Origin Energy was not effective, it was just that her body rejected the purest form of energy as her body was not suitable to house it unlike Miguel who’s body had been slowly modified by the Origin Energy itself.
A frown appeared on his face, he wasted a drop of Origin Energy and it did not improve her situation at all.
"Q-quick! S-suck the demonic miasma out of her like what she did to you earlier before it’s too late," Aaliyah’s trembling voice entered Miguel’s ears, breaking him out of his stupor.
Miguel thought of how Edith saved her from the same situation a few hours earlier and was about to do it when Edith finally spoke.
"N-no. I-it’s already too late."
