Chapter 139: Truth
The lights glowed dimly at the bar. Jennifer sat with a glass of champagne resting beside her on the table. Across from her sat a man, casually sipping his drink.
"You’ve been drinking a lot," he said, raising an eyebrow. "What’s got you so pissed, huh?"
Jennifer gave him only a brief glance.
"It’s nothing," she muttered.
But the man wasn’t convinced. He could see the storm brewing behind her calm exterior.
"You sure? Is it about another man? Is that why you’re pissed?"
Jennifer shot him a cold glare.
"If you already know, why ask?"
The man chuckled, hiding his face behind his hand.
"Ah, if I’d known I was gonna get roasted like that, I’d have kept my mouth shut."
"Yeah. You should’ve," Jennifer snapped, her tone sharp and ruthless.
