Chapter 95: He wants a real life bear
Just when Rolan and Tobi were playing cat and mouse, enjoying their banter, Rose almost forgot that her mother was in the house. But the moment she walked in, Rose’s mood was instantly ruined. At that moment, her mother felt like a walking jinx. No, Rose reminded herself—she needed to make her leave the house.
"Rose, dear, I’m leaving. Rolan, you’re coming with me. Jennifer says she wants to see you."
Her mother turned to Rolan, a smile curving on her lips, making her look like some divine being—gorgeous and untouchable.
Rose was relieved to hear that she and Rolan could finally leave, but the mention of Jennifer made her heart race.
Jennifer again? Would Rolan actually go with her? The thought made Rose uneasy in a way she didn’t like.
"Yes, Mrs. Stella. I’ll be going right now," Rolan said expressionlessly from where he sat next to Rose, and her heart dropped even further.
At that moment, Rolan looked like an obedient dog to her mother and sister. He always forgot about Rose when it came to them. Sometimes, she felt confused—just like she did now. Would he really leave for Jennifer just because her mother told him to? Or would he stay?
"Rolan, stay."
The words slipped out before Rose could stop them. She didn’t even know why she said it or what she was searching for. She just needed to be sure—though she wasn’t even sure of what.
Her mother’s expression immediately twisted into a grimace, and she turned to Rolan, her voice gentle yet firm.
"Rolan, let’s go. You wouldn’t want to keep Jennifer waiting."
