Chapter 22: Meeting her father
"So, what have you decided to do if you’re not going to get back together with him?" Zara asked, thinking that, thank goodness, her friend’s mind was finally back on track.
"What you need to think about now is your future and your kid. You don’t need a man to survive. A woman on her own, with her own money, can make anything happen. You can conquer the world."
Rose nodded. "What I’m going to do, gurl, is first change houses. I’m going to call my father, and then I’ll change my location so he can’t find me. I don’t want to meet him again. I want to keep him out of my life. Everything that brings him into my life, I want to close that Chapter."
"I’m changing houses, and I’ll call my dad. He’ll get me a new apartment," she said, snapping her fingers as she finally made her decision.
Zara snapped her fingers along with her, accepting that this was a very good decision. "Yes, girl, that’s the mindset! That’s how you should be thinking. Don’t go back to any man. This man made you suffer in your past life. You’re not going to be with him. You need to close everything that ties you to him."
"Don’t get back with him, Rose."
"Yes, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t go back to him. I won’t love him again. I was stupid yesterday, and I did the wrong thing. I won’t repeat it."
"So, girl, what are you waiting for? Get your phone and call your father right now," Zara said, urging Rose to act quickly.
Rose hurriedly brought her phone out of her finger, wanting to die. She stared at the number for a moment, then paused at action, thinking twice.
Although her mother hated her and did not interact much, her father was a kind, quiet, peaceful man who loved them silently, but he could not put his mind in her mother’s decision. Her mother was the passing, ruling the household.
Her father, though, cared for her, but their feelings for each other were very awkward. She could not converse very well with him. He had bought an apartment for her.
