Chapter 220: _ Prologue
It’s been two weeks since the battle with the vampires. Everything had been going smoothly and pretty normal despite the loss we faced too.
It seemed like the pack could finally breathe.
I recovered quickly from the shock that followed what happened at the battle and it was all thanks to Kaene. I almost shrunk back into my shell, but Kaene didn’t let me.
He was everywhere I went, he was always by my side even when he had to be at important meetings that needed his urgent attention, he stayed with me.
When I had nightmares, I would wake up to him by my side, holding my hands. When I ran a fever, he attended to me and didn’t let anyone else be in charge of my care.
He constantly spoke words of comfort to me and reminded me that I was not a red-headed monster and that he loved me just the way I was, hybrid or not.
Yes! My hair was still red. I didn’t know why the color remained, but Kaene loved it and I’ve grown to love it too.
I smiled as I remembered Kaene’s kind words and gestures, the sweet kisses, the way he dotes on me at every chance he gets, and the gifts. He taught me to embrace my true self, my hybrid self.
Honestly, I didn’t know what I did in my previous life to get such a good man at my beck and call.
I had felt my powers a few times since that night, there were times when I had accidentally mind-controlled the maids. Those times still scared me, but I had Kaene by my side to encourage me. He and Elder Gita had helped me to get better.
However, today wasn’t about bloodshed or loss or even about me. It was about the honor of the pack.
