Reaper's Resurgence: A System Reset

B4 | Chapter 76

Alexia

I end up sitting around for a while waiting for the countdown to end before I’m finally teleported to some rather large planet. One covered in nothing but stone and with two suns shining on it.

To my surprise, one of said suns is black in color and it is looking out over the horizon from the side that Lucas is standing. Relatively far away from me but not too far away. Meanwhile the other sun is purple and is looking out over the other horizon from behind me.

Almost like the System planned that just to make this battlefield look more intense while matching our colors.

As for Lucas himself? He actually looks relatively tired right now. Which disappoints me a little bit since it means we won’t get a duel with both of us being at a hundred percent.

Then again, I’m not exactly at one hundred percent right now either. But I’m also not really weakened right now unlike him, so…

Anyways, Lucas waves at me with a grin on his face as his wings flutter behind him. So I wave back at him with a serious expression on my face.

“Are you ready, sweetheart?” Lucas asks while still grinning. Clearly looking like he’s eagerly anticipating this battle.

I nod my head and answer, “Don’t hold back on me. Kill me if you can.”

His grin grows even wider before he suddenly rushes forwards, breaking the sound barrier as he does so. Only to pass straight through me thanks to my immunity to physical damage.

My brows furrow as I feel more than a little disappointed at that display.

He stops moving and turns back around with his grin growing even wider as he says, “Looks like you really are immune to physical damage. Just like my immunity to magic.”

Was he just testing?

Probably.

Full immunity to a full spectrum of damage is incredibly rare if not almost unheard of. To the point that Lucas is the only being in existence known to have a full immunity to magic. And I’m the only one I’ve ever heard of having a full immunity to physical damage.

Even ghosts and spirits can be affected by physical damage if it’s great enough.

At most things can have a powerful resistance towards magic or physical damage. Enough resistance it can be upwards of fifty or even seventy-five percent of the damage being completely nullified.

But we’re the only ones who have a complete immunity.

I’m pretty sure the other quantum beings don’t even have this immunity. It’s just unique to my species as a Quantum Reaper.

Out of curiosity, I pull my hands out of my pockets and wave one of them at the Hound of the Apocalypse, sending a bunch of quantum bullets straight at him. But the moment they touch him, they just kind of fizzle out and vanish without doing any damage to him whatsoever. For origınal chapters go to NoveI~Fire.net

Interesting.

I’ve heard about his magic immunity a lot over the years, but I’ve never really seen it first-hand myself before.

His grin grows wider as I summon my polearm into my hand. Meanwhile he does the complete opposite and dismisses his sword before summoning blades of darkness into his hands instead. Ones made entirely of magic.

The two of us then stare at each other for several seconds. Just looking over each other to find any weaknesses. Meanwhile I’m sure the audience watching us through that annoying livestream is having the time of their lives.

At the end of the day though, I just ignore them and focus on Lucas. Because this will be the only time I’ll be able to fight him all out like this without having to worry about accidentally killing him.

That’s my goal this time after all.

To kill him and win this competition for myself.

The only bright side about all of this is that I’m sure he’ll let me use the dungeon even if he wins. So there’s that.

Which means I really can just focus on the battle without any worries.

So I do exactly that as the both of us rush straight towards each other. With me teleporting and slashing straight at him with my polearm and him striking back with both of his blades of darkness. All while he summons numerous missiles of darkness shoot out of Lucas and arc towards me. Missiles I proceed to counter with my own missiles of quantum energy.

Lucas and I then proceed to dance in the air, clashing blades over and over again while he tries to strike me with his magic, and I counter his magic or teleport away in the process. Thereby leading to a complete stalemate between the two of us, without either of us getting a clear hit on the other.

And the few hits we do manage to land on each other do absolutely minimum damage. With some of them not even doing anything since they’re our attacks that we’re using to counter the other’s attacks.

Like a kick from him that was aimed at a blade of mine but ends up passing through me instead. Or a missile of quantum energy that I fired to counter some of his dark magic but end up just fizzling out when it hits him.

Over and over again, we clash. And with each clash, chunks of the stone planet around us are being blown to bits. Both with our clashes and our misses.

Especially his misses, since his physical attacks just glitch straight through me. Unlike my accidental magical hits that just fizzle out without doing anything.

So he’s managed to slam against the planet quite a few times so far.

And just like this, we go on for hours upon hours. Not really getting much of anywhere with our battle. With each of us destroying the planet more and more while the two suns beat down on us. Both the purple and the black sun, neither of which seem to be changing from their positions. No matter how far away we go from our original spots on the planet.

Until he suddenly begins to do things rather… differently.
